I have tried several different brands and types of detergent and they still will not dissolve. The last ones I used were the Cascade action packs. The first few times I used them they worked great. Then all of a sudden they would not dissolve either. Needless to say my dishes are dirty. What could the problem be?

Re: detergent is not completely dissolving
Brotha, there is a couple service flashes out there that affect your model. They have to do with poor washability, redesign of the upper spray arm and top spinner. This could be your problem with the spray arms not hitting the soap dispenser properly. You would want to call Sears, I think you would be covered under these service flashes. Other things to check would be water temp. It should be at least 120 degrees entering the dishwasher. If the chopper screen is clogged with gunk, this would prevent a good flow of water to the upper spray arms as well. Catriver...post back.

Are you using a rapid wash program, ie 30 minutes total?
if you are, put the tablet in the cutlery basket, not the soap dispenser. The wash time is very short on the 30 min program, so putting it in the cutlery basket gives it more time to dissolve.
Other problems might be problem with water level, (should be just above the filter but below the lip of the wash tank), pump not working or the spray arms not turning - (check the angled jet at the very end of the spray arm for blockage by food particles).
I have had good luck with the powdered dishwasher detergent from Wall Mart's brand Great Value.
Before I switched to this brand I had to clean the washer drawer several times because the detergent I was using was not dissolving properly and would leave a residue in the bottom of the drawer and on the dishes.
check the water temperature, run hot water at the adjacent sink before pushing start on the dishwaher, or switch to powder, is your detergent door opening ? do not block the detergent door with long objects like spatulas etc.
I believe that the instructions for using these 3-in-1 tablets is to place it in the open dish detergent cup, rather than in the closable compartment, since the tablet needs to get doused by a lot of water in oder to fully dissolve and be effective in getting the dishes clean.
Since the tablets are designed to dissolve more slowly, they are able to be used for the entire range of washing cycles. If it's a constant problem and you don's have an open detergent cup below or next to your closed detergent dispenser, just toss it into the bottom of the dishwasher instead.
The reason that the tablet isn't getting dissolved fully is because the door is preventing the tablet from dropping all the way out and the door is shielding the tablet from quite a bit of water spray.
Another option is to take a look at your owners manual for the dishwasher and see if they recommend these all-in-one tablets versus regular powered detergent and liquid rinse aid.
Try reversing the bottom dish rack, it's likely blocking the dispenser door because it's put in the dishwasher incorrectly. Also check if there is anything in the back of the rack preventing it from going all the way in.
Sounds like you have motor pump problem and may need to be replaced. The parts are covered for 2 years but you'll have to pay for the labor. Call a qualified LG technician for service on your dishwasher. You can find them on the LG website.
