Hello,
I need help with my camera. Last week, my brother borrowed my camera because they went to a swimming pool resort. After 3 days, he returned the camera.
I just keep it in my locker, recharge the batteries because we will be going to the city and I might need to use it.
When I was about to use my camera (I was embarassed at that time because the people in front of me were posing), I noticed, there's nothing to view in the lcd screen! I began to panic (because the camera is a package gift to me by my aunt, the total package cost was $250-including the batteries, charger, bag, etc... and worst, there's no Nikon repair here in Philippines). I tried to shot some pics and recorded a short video, but all are black!
When I tried the other settings (macro), the screen began to lighten untill I can view the image. But when I turned off my camera again, it goes back to blank/black, not if I change some settings which is a bit annoying.
Can anyone help me with this? By the way, I still don't know the cause of this, and my borther said that it was still working fine the last time they use it. I would be glad if anyone can figure this out.
We'll maybe it's still under Nikon's warranty because it's still 8 months old in me. But the problem is, it was bought in the USA not in the Philippines...We'll maybe it's still under Nikon's warranty because it's still 8 months old in me. It sounds like the shutter in your camera is sticky. This does happen with most cameras. The only reliable solution is to replace the lens assembly. It sounds like the camera is not too old so it should be covered under Nikon's warranty. Otherwise, you can locate a shop through Fixya's find a shop service.

Check if there is anything displayed on the EVF (electronic view finder) instead of on the LCD (screen). If you see an image there, hit the EVF/LCD button to switch to the LCD screen view.
1. Toggle the MODE button to camera picture and press the SET button
2. Compose your image while viewing the LCD monitor
3. Press the ZOOM thumbnail button with the magnifier picture to activate the digital zoom.can zoom images up to 5 times
4 Press the shutter button to capture the ZOOMED image
Hope this helps, there wasn't a date on your e-mail so not sure when your Holiday was.
Good Luck

Try replacing the SD card first..sometimes that can be a culprit. If that does not resolve the issue, try tapping a corner of the camera on the palm of your hand a couple of times. (I hear swearing while doing this helps..LOL) If neither of them works, then yu either have a faulty CCD sensor, or faulty connector ribbons to the LCD display. Since you said you just got the camera a week ago, if the first two solutions don't work, then you best get the camera replaced under warranty.
Hope that helps! Oh yes, please do not forget to assign a fixya rating as a show of appreciation for my help. Rating here are everything, you know :)
Hello,
The problem is in bad contacts on flat cable from the LCD. Cleaning the cable and the connector can solve the problem.
If you need more info please advice.
ps: this should be the long term solution.
