1. I need a manual for a USED washer I purchased Kenmore 70 series-model 20712990, type 111? 2. I need to know where to put the fabric softener...the lid says to "addd to the agitator-mounted dispensor", but I do not see a dispensor mounted anywhere. Thanks
Thanks! I did call Sears, and they were able to not only show me how to download the manual, but also handled my Fabric Softener Dispenser problem...seems they have a part that attaches where the cap on my agitator is , and they are mailing it out to me. The part and the Shipping and handling total around $15.Thanks! If the model number is correct, the detergent and fabric softener go in the dispenser drawer on the left hand side of the operator console. Detergent goes in the LEFT FRONT compartment and softener goes in the RIGHT FRONT compartment. A full explanation of the dispener compartments is included on about page 13 of the owner's manual. If you do not have an owner's manual, you can obtain a FREE copy at managemylife.com. Just type in your MODEL NUMBER under their "Manuals" link and your manual is available in .pdf (Adobe) format that you can download or print for FREE. If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.
This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.
First, see the Sears parts site for your washer: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action
Enter your model number (###.#######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.
Depending on the model, your fabric softener may have a ring around its bottom. Push down or pull up the ring and the dispenser should pull straight up. It doesn't twist off.
Also see the following Sears site. It may have an on-line manual for your machine.
2. Using a short flat blade screwdriver, remove the cap.
3. You may see a 1/2" square plastic nut.
I've used a 1/2" extension for a socket set to remove the nut.
4. Pull the top agitator off and turn it over carefully.
You should see the agitator dogs (per the illustrations).
Replace them if necessary and re-mount the agitator, tighten the bolt carefully, put the cap and fabric softener dispenser back on and the top part of the agitator should only turn one way.
the was exhaust hose is either plugged or cracked. also check the drain it is put into as this sometimes will be puleeged with fabric from the clothes you wash
Hi, If there isn't a softener container in the top of the agitator, you can get a softener ball from your local grocery store. Just put the softener in before you wash and it will open to release the softener during the spin cycle. It works great. I use it all the time.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if I can assist you further
all that is wrong is the lid switch is bad, remove the 2 head screws one on each side, flip the head up,you will see the lid switch jack on the washer top, unplug it clip the two outside wires and wire them together(unplug the washer first before you start this)now plug the jack back in,you have now by passed the lid switch and your good to go,let me know how you do-mike
