Your assistance sony 27 " tv serial number 8034983 and model number kv-27s65 there are two diodes near the converter tuner circuit numbers d250 and d251 that are open i am not sure if there are zener diodes or normal all purpose diodes i therefore need your assistance in knowing there values if there are zener diodes your assistance will be appreciated

The tuner is Sony part number 8-598-340-00. This site says they have it for around $35. Their stock number is 72-1001.

that problem is very common on a sony tv,the sound IF and video IF of your tv is bad..video and sound IF is located near the tuner section of your tv.some sony model,the IF section and TUNER section are packed in one enclosure. it your tv sound IF is packed together with the tuner,then replace the tuner with a new one.some are packed separately so you need to replace just the IF module only..you can also try to adjust the IF by using a plastic smsll screw driver adjust the IF clock wise or counter clock wise untill you achive a good reception do it with the tv power is on..be carefull with the high voltage...

This was a common problem with the Tuners of these models. The replacing of the Tuner should fix the Problem. You may be able to order it from Sony.

You have your information incorrect, Q is not the designation for diodes, Q657 would be a transistor. First give us the correct number for the diode and how do you know it is shorted?

the vertical o/p generic number stamped on the fron of the ic is "TDA8172" the sony part number is "8-759-980-58". good luck
