I would try to be a little sneaky if the writing is in Chinese----Yahoo has a free online service called Babel Fish---type some common words like English, Menu etc and compare them to the writing on screen when you enter the menu--looking for the language the set is set to in that language.
It will translate words from chinese to English and vice versa.
Short of getting someone who reads and speaks that language it is the only simple way I know to approach this odd issue.
Given the fact that ATM machines now offer instructions in several languages I would be glad it is not Russian.
find settings (chinese = ??, japanese = ??)... then go to languages (chinese = ??, japanese = ??)... and change it back to English (Chinese ??, Japanese ??)
