Which make and model range do you have? Several appliance manufacturers have their manuals available online. There should be a plaque with the model number somewhere on the range. It can be on the face of the oven (outside the seal of the door), behind the storage drawer either on the face of the the appliance or next one of the legs, or just below the control panel. Cooktops often have the model number in a corner of one of the burners.

The year Whirlpool appliances were manufactured can be determined through the serial number and not with the model number. The second digit of the serial number tells the year and the two digits next to it is the week of manufacture. Divide these two digits by four and you get the approximate month the appliance was manufactured. Click on the link below for the list of Whirlpool Year Codes which is also applicable to some Kenmore, Roper, Maytag, and other Whirlpool-made appliances.

The date of manufacture is determined by the SERIAL NUMBER on the appliance, not the model number. The following link explains how to determine the manufacture date on Whirlpool appliances:

The second DIGIT in the serial number determines the YEAR it was manufactured. The first two NUMBERS following that digit represent the WEEK (52 weeks in a year) it was manufactured. You may need a calendar to count the weeks to get an idea of which month your appliance was manufactured.
