There is no place on the VCR/DVD to plug in the Basic cable. This is the 3rd unit I have tried. I have a Sanyo and it works fine. Can't find a new one so bought a Phillips. Getting very discouraged. Please help!

First of all the the VCR has two connection from the tuner at the back one has out to tv the other has in from antenna you connect the wire from the cable company to the in from antenna.you connect another from the out to tv to the tuner connnection of your tv.and you are on.to connect the dvd to your tv.the tv has either at the front three female connector basic colors red white and yellow.the red and white is for audio in, left and right, and the yellow is for video in.the dvd has similar connections but they are output just connect them matching them color to color.there are some female connectors on the back of the dvd if you want to use surround sound.or play it through a reciever.good luck.

Yes you need a modulator. The one I used to hook up my Mother's VCR/DVD Combo only cost $15 at Walmart. It was a RCA brand.

Cannot connect a VCR/DVD player to Zenith SY1959Y

you don't need a code for the vcr/dvd combo to work on your tv. You need to make sure you have hooked up the cables correctly. remember that the dvd can be hooked up with the component cabels and the vhs may need to be hooked up thru the tv cable hookup.

Toshiba Model: SD-V295 DVD/VCR Combo Setup for TV recording

The proper hookup is antenna or cable into the VCR RF/antenna input, then VCR RF/antenna output to the TV RF input. The hookup you describe means no signal is getting to the VCR.

With some TVs, there can be Video and audio output jacks which can be hooked to the video and audio jacks of the VCR. However this would likely mean you could only record the channel being watched, and, the TV would have to be on.

Dvd/vcr with ** hookup for cable tv

Just hook your antenna or whatever wire you have currently connected to the TV to the input on the new recorder, and you'll be to record anything you can watch now.

Dvd/vcr without cable hook-up

If ** cable TV hookups exists, then the only inputs you can use are the line-in along with audio left/right. You've probably got a slew of output connections. Your unit does **t contain a tuner (which would allow you to use a cable input). You need to have a cable box or other device (vcr/tv) that has outputs compatible with the input of your dvd/vcr. A lot of dvd/vcrs are that way. It actually saves you some $$ since most cable boxes (especially HDTV compatible) already have the required outputs on them.

HOoking up DVD/VCR without correct connectors

either use an old vcr to act as a signal converter or go buy an "rf converter" from an electronics store to change composite audio/video signal to channels 3 or 4 and that should do the trick.

I can't hook it back up

Is your DVD player a DVD/VCR combo? If so, hook the "tv out" (sometimes called "ant out" ) to the "ant in" on the DVD/VCR, then hook the "ant out" of the DVD/VCR to the "ant in" on the tv. Then make sure the DVD/VCR and TV are on the appropriate channel (3 or 4).
If it's NOT a combo, or these instructions don't work for you, i will need pictures of the inputs/outputs of the devices.
