I have a 43 inch samsung DLP tv 2004 model# HLN4365W, I was getting a black and white picture, so i replaced the color wheel which was broken. It worked fine for a couple of days then there was no picture, i have sound. The lamp is working - no errors on front panel. If i look in the back of the tv i can see light coming out of the lens, but no picture on the screen. What could be the problem? Thanks

DLPs have had terrible reputation for faulty power supplies. Does the power light flash when it shuts down? How many hours are on the lamp?

No picture on a DLP when you can see the lamp is working is ALWAYS the DLP chip. BECAUSE you recently replaced the color wheel, i suspect that the LVDS/data cable to the light engine was not plugged in well and has come loose. I suggest checking and rechecking every cable and plug you can find.

The noise could be one of the cooling fans has some debris in it or the most likely cause is the color wheel is starting to fail and will have to be replaced. If the picture starts to have color or picture problems then it is the color wheel.

This tv have a colors wheel.The colors wheel is dead.The tv have squiling,motor loud noises and back&white picture.All the indication problems of the colors wheel is dead.Call the tv tech.to fix this problems,because have to take out alot of manchanical parts.Before even can get to the colors wheel out to replaced it.

The sound comes from the color wheel and not a fan,common to samsung dlp tv's which can be the cause of the shut down.

Hi,If your tv is between 2-4 yrs most likely it's time to replace the lamp.If you hear continuous clicking it could be the ballast which is the board that powers the lamp.If you hear buzzing it could be the color wheel,which is a spinning wheel that creates the color on your tv.God bless you!

We have the same DLP set and had the same problem. The Color Wheel, P/N BP96-00250A, a $200 part needs replacement to eliminate your problem.

Power issues (Tv not turning on) were typically due to faulty ballast. While the TV reports a bad lamp it is the ballast itself causing the issue. Samsung is well aware and will replace both the ballast and the lamp (since the lamp can be prematurely aged but the bad ballast). After replacment most people stop having issues.

if the picture is still visible but lacking color, it is not the lamp. check the color wheel and make sure it is working. replacing the color wheel is a pretty easy task and can be performed by yourself without many problems. as a sidenote, older samsung dlp tvs seem to experience this problem quite often, although they usually sound like someone strangling a cat before the bearings go out..

partstore.com should carry your replacement for 100 USD or so, the part number is BP96-00250A.

before replacing it, make sure your old one isn't just stuck or not spinning at full rpm, if this is the case, you can usually remove it and clean the motor using electronic or contact cleaner that is safe for plastics.

to check everything out, you will need to remove the back panel of your tv, then power it up (keep kids, small animals, hands and such away from the back while powered up), take a look in front of the projection lamp and see if the wheel is turning. if not, a very good writeup is available here, this is the writeup i send my own customers to if they feel like attempting the repair themselves.

replacing the color wheel is actually not very hard at all, if you have ever worked on your own desktop pc (installed a new drive or upgraded it yourself) then you should be able to do this with limited difficulty.

Did you reset the hours on the lamp with the menu options on your set? Sometimes, if you do not do that it can mess with the tv performance thinking that its over hours. It needs to be reset to 0 again...
