Question about JVC GR-D32 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

No image on screen or in viewfinder

Hello all We have a JVC GR-D32 Mini DV Camcorder. Unfortunately, we have lost the manual for it and have run into a problem. When we turn on the unit, in either "A" or "M" mode, both the digital screen and the viewfinder screen remain black, with no image other than some icons and the date/time. It will flash "lens cap" for a couple of seconds after you power up, but then it goes off (to answer the obvious question, yes the lens cap is off). There is also a small yellow blinking icon on the bottom centre consisting of(in this order, left to right)the figure of a man, two arrow heads pointing in opposite directions, then what looks to be a castle turret. This flashes continuously, and does not go off no matter what setting is tried. When I put it in playback mode, and put in an old tape, we can watch what we taped previously, so it isn't the screen itself. We have tried adjusting every setting we can, with no luck either. To our knowledge, the camcorder has not been dropped, or otherwise abused. Thanks for any help anyone can offer

Apparently this same problem exists on many different models. I have a JVC grd72u. I called JVC @ 800-252-5722. I selected the "Corrective Action Program" prompt from the automated attendent. I spoke to a customer service rep. They are aware of the problem and are fixing it for free, but only until 12/31/07. I suggest you call ASAP and get your name in the computer. If the problem is something besides the CCD sensor, they will call you with the estimate to repair.

When in video recording mode LCD screen and viewfinder are black when the lens cap is off.

It could one of a few problems:

1. The viewfinder is pulled out and "PRIORITY" is set to "FINDER".

Push the viewfinder back in or set "PRIORITY" to "LCD".

2. The LCD monitor's brightness setting is too dark.

Adjust the brightness of the LCD monitor.

3. If the monitor is tilted upward 180 degrees, open the monitor fully.

No screen

Hi, the imager is bad..reason: it is the way Sony made the imager..the gold leads would pop up off the chip, without warning. So goto this site..your camera is cover'd..send it in and they will fix it. free.http://support.jvc.com/consumer/support/notification/index.jsp

Blur in viewfinder

Hi, i had the same problem and was suggested i visited the JVC website, this could be the manufacturers error reported on their web site. Failure of the CCD image sensor. Check JVC UK web site, support centre, if your camcorder has the problems listed, until 01/10/07 they will cover repairs. Mine now works ok. Hope this helps
