Bad amplifier need help!!!!

I have a Jl audio 300/4 amp and it recently started making a weird fuzzy static like noise. I have checked all wiring and concluded that it must be something internal. I have no idea what could cause it. PLEASE HELP!!!!

same thing. Everything was fine . listening to the stereo. Then all of a sudden distortion heavy over all channels like a chaffed wire or something. checked everything removed amp rechecked with test speakers same thing. if i smack it with my hand closer to the side with the power input it will clear up for short time like until i sit down and raise the volume

intermitent static sound can be heard on front two channels. Teh static sound may last for few hours and after this it will be OK. Appears to get worse (happens more frequently now) over sevral months. The amp is about 5 years old. If the right channel input (RCA) is removed than the static sound problem is gone. Swapping the left and rigght channel input does not make any diffrence.

the front channel on my jl 300/4 amp gave me the same kind of fuzzy sound but only once in a while. at first i seemed to have fixed the problem by bridging that side but after a while, that started doing the same thing. now it's constantly there. i know its not my wiring cause i moved all my wiring to the rear channel and it sounds fine. anyone know whats wrong

I had the same problem with my 500/1 and was even told by a Radio shop that I should just get a new one. WRONG! Open up the back of your amplifier while you have your system on and look for a loose circuit (white rectangle half visible on my 500/1) it probably came loose and is bumping against what it is usually connected to. I used a pencil eraser and stuck it between a circuit board and this circuit to keep it stable. Amp works great now, but it can come loose.

I had the same amp! It is the JL 300/4 and one of the chanels came in really fuzzy. It sounded as if the the wires were touching during my installation. I called JL and a JL authorized dealer it would have costed me 190 dollars total to get the amp fixed. Instead I opened up the amp to see if anything looked out of the ordinary. When you open the amp, see if the green fuse looking things are aligned. If they are not aligned then straighten them out. I think they had gotten out of place from being dropped becaue I baught my amp used. My amp works perfectly now!

I recently got a JL 300 amp and at first the sub stopped working, then it came back on during the song I was playing. Later on it shut off all together. I don't know what the problem is..

Does it only happen on that channel. It is a 4 channel amp so make sure the other channels are working. It sounds like an RCA input prob. Try the sub on the other channel. if it works then it would be your RCA input needs resoldered.

My amp cuts out at higher volume

This happens to me all the time during the warm months. The problem is likely that the amplifier is overheating because of location. If not properly ventilated, the amplifier will shut off before damage occurs. Is it located under a seat or other area where sufficient air flow is lacking? I solved this problem by moving my amplifier from under a seat to the trunk area.

500/1 and 300/4 jl

Need more info here. did you run power from the 500/1 to the 300/4, or did you run the signal from the 500/1 to the 300/4? Also which amplifier is cutting out for a min...the 500/1, the 300/4, or both? each amp should be wired to a distribution block with 4 awg power wire recommended for each. the amps should also be wired without any capacitor.

This is no joke man, I did this just yesterday and was really excited to save 190 bucks. I'm not a technical guy or anything all I know is the green things are located behind the out puts inside the amp.

Amp cell went bad!!!

You may be able to find a local shop that can repair it. If you want to send it to JL for service, you'll have to go through an authorized dealer.

JL audio 300/4 amplifier noise

This can be a faulty ground or speaker wires running to close to other wires from the car. You can also buy a filter for the speaker wires.

JL audio Low ohms indication

If the low impedance light is coming on, you may have shorted wiring or a defective speaker. Disconnect all of the speaker wires from the amp. If the light does not come on, reconnect one speaker at a time to see if you can find the one causing the problem. If the first one you connect causes the problem try a second one. If the light comes on with no speakers connected to the amplifier, the amplifier is in need of repair.
