My APEX 3230 recently developed a problem where the picture is just not "locking in".The technician says it needs this IC/processor TDA9379PS/N2/4I1231.However I am unable to locate it in Jamaica where I live. Can it be confirmed that that processor may be the problem and if so where can I get it.

Actually you have 3 problems. The two that you listed and the third which is: Apex does not support their units. Ask anyone who has tried to get any service. Your problem sounds like a bad digital convergence box. I fix this problem several times a week but on name brand sets. Cost is usually less than $100 for the part. Some problems with Apex equipment can be fixed if the part is a common off the shelf part. That is not the case with your problem. Apex equipment is cheap for a reason. All posts that I have read say that they do not last long and you can't get parts. That has also been my experience as a technician. We don't even accept Apex units for repair anymore. Next time spend the extra money to buy a name brand unit and it will more than likely be repairable.
