That last link is NOT for an Inverter Board, but rather for the RJ11 & RJ45 Modem jack. It appears, going through the Service Manual, that you need to purchase the whole Display Assembly. I'm a certified Compaq, HP, IBM, Toshiba and Dell PC Specialist. Should you have any other questions, need parts,, or some help of break-down/re-assembly, don't hesitate to ask. I have #'s for most all PC and Notebook Parts Vendors, so can help you out with parts, too. Just email me at: [email protected] I'd be more than happy to assist you! =)
Sorry - my bad...he DID list the inverter board. But it didn't have a picture, and ALL COMPAQ PARTS begin with "CPQ-" so would look something like, "CPQ-XXXXXX-oo1"
Thanks and sorry for being wrong about it. Just be sure you see what you're buying, before laying any money out. Again, you are more than welcome to email me (as listed above) any time and I can help you order parts and repair your notebook...

This is probably a defective inverter board or backlight. It can be repaired by a user with the right skills, patience, some tools, lots of time and the ability to risk damaging the laptop beyond economic repair. If we open it up and don?t see anything obvious then the troubleshooting process will require obtaining new, working parts to switch out. Overall you will have to make an investment in parts which many or may not pay off the end. I typically recommend that users who do not have experience working on delicate electronics seriously consider taking their laptop to their local authorized repair shop. They have the experience, tools and parts which generally translate into getting a working laptop back at minimal expense. If you decide you want to continue troubleshooting (and opening up) the laptop let us know and we can give you some general instructions how to open it up and where to get parts. Good luck and please don?t? forget to rate this posting.
The service manual can be downloaded here:http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/suppor...
Specifically you want to open the Removal and Replacement Procedure section and go to 5.15, Display Assembly.
Here is a 14.1? Inverter board for sale for $20 on Ebay:http://cgi.ebay.com/Compaq-Armada-M700-i...
