Z712 IS - Frequently when the camera is power up, a screen mesage appears - "memory card requires formatting". I shut down -pull out the 4gb 'pq1' card, use internal memory until I download pics on the card -re insert and reformat. This has occured at least three times - The camera is approx 4 Mo old.
SOURCE: Won't format new memory card
Your camera is not SDHC compatible. It will only support standard SD cards. Sorry.
I hope this helps.
SOURCE: new memory card will not format
You are probably using a 4 gigabyte memory card and your camera will only support a 2 gigabyte card. Get the right card and it will format properly.

SOURCE: camera will not format 4 gig card

SOURCE: We insert a memory chip into our Kodak EasyShare
Your camera is only supporting SD/MMC Cards (up to 2 GB) and KODAK SDHC Cards (up to 8 GB).
The card that you currently have might be faulty. Please try another card.
You might also need to switch the camera over to saving pictures directly onto the SD card.1: Menu, Cam settings, Chose AUTO or SD card option Press OK
Note: If the SD card isn't in the camera or is unreadable the camera will automatically go back to saving you taken pictures on the internal memory.
