Before suspecting the camera, I'd simply try another memory card in it. Memory cards can and do fail and often can behave inconsistently before they fail completely.

SOURCE: Won't format new memory card

Your camera is not SDHC compatible. It will only support standard SD cards. Sorry.

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: new memory card will not format

You are probably using a 4 gigabyte memory card and your camera will only support a 2 gigabyte card. Get the right card and it will format properly.

SOURCE: We insert a memory chip into our Kodak EasyShare

Your camera is only supporting SD/MMC Cards (up to 2 GB) and KODAK SDHC Cards (up to 8 GB).
The card that you currently have might be faulty. Please try another card.
You might also need to switch the camera over to saving pictures directly onto the SD card.1: Menu, Cam settings, Chose AUTO or SD card option Press OK
Note: If the SD card isn't in the camera or is unreadable the camera will automatically go back to saving you taken pictures on the internal memory.

My cam says "memory card

Hi,
If the camera displays Memory card error or No Memory Card when a memory card is inserted or any of the above error messages, make sure that the card is inserted properly. If this is the case, you may wish to Format the memory card in the camera using the Setup Menu option [Format] as shown below. Please be aware that formatting the memory card will remove any images currently stored on the card along with any other data. This can also be caused when images shot with another camera are stored on the memory card.

If after formatting the card in the camera the error persists, try another memory card. If this occurs with only the one card it is likely that the memory card is defective, if the error persists over more than one card the camera may require service. If the card appears to be defective you may wish to contact the memory card manufacturer.

Thank you!!

Hi, I have a Kodak EasyShere canera, model # Z712 IS. I used to be able to take hundreds of pictures before the memory was full on this camera. Now it says it's full after 14! How do I correct this...

Somehow, you started using the camera's internal memory which is very small. With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions to erase the internal memory. Then, insert your card and it should work properly.

Card error

Try turning off the camera. While it's off remove and reinsert the memory card. If the same message appears, you should re-format the memory card. CAUTION: Formatting the memory card will delete anything on it. Copy the files off of it before formatting.

"Internal memory requires formatting."

This error message indicates that the internal memory in the camera requires formatting or is corrupt. You must format the internal memory. CAUTION: Formatting deletes all pictures and videos, including those that are protected. Removing a memory card during formatting may damage the card. (Formatting internal memory also erases email addresses and album names. To restore addresses and albums, see Kodak EasyShare software Help.)
