Power button stuck in down position

Camera is now a year & 1 month old, of course warranty was for 1 year. Love the camera though, would like to get it up & running again. Downloaded pictures, worked fine. Power button is stuck in down position. Batteries have been changed several times, so tryed that. There was a similar solution to use an AC adapter (I donot have one). Took it back to Best Buy, quoted about $50.00 just to send it in, would not include repairs or service. Any ideas? I'd be most grateful. Camera is a Sony Cyber-shot DCS-S600. Thank you in advance.

First, a question, was the camera exposed to a sticky substance like Coke? This is a very common cause of buttons sticking. Another possibility is that the switch on the circuit under the cover is jammed and needs to be either repaired or replaced. This is something that only a repair shop can handle. You cold take directly to an authorized Sony repair shop. There will be a contact number in you owner's manual.

I cannot activate Nikon Coolpix S210 (problem with ON/OFF button)

had a similar issue with my Pentax, it would power on and power back off. Tried playing with it for a while and it never recovered. Chances are its time to replace it. These new electronics are jam packed with lots of mini moving parts and are prone to excessive wear over time. they're are no servicable parts inside them unfortunately. I would try ebay for a reasonable replacement camera.

No power despite fresh batteries

If it's less than a year old, it's still under warranty. Exercise that warranty and contact Canon support.

Sony DSC- W55

Hi Shubha

If it is only 3 months old, you have a service guarantee from Sony. You find your local Sony service center in the blue booklet supplied with the camera.

I will warn you though, sticky buttons normaly indicate moisture or liquid damage to the set. Something Sony might ask you to pay for as this is not covered by their warranty.

Remember to take your proof of purchase with you as this will surely speed up the repair process.

Good luck

Lens stuck out

If it is under warranty send it in as soon as possible. Have a brother same problem. I believe it is a known problem with Sony cameras, but you don't see that in there adds. But he sent his in they replaced the lens assembly and updated the software. His was only three monthes old at the time.
