RCA F38310 38" TV Logo

Question about RCA F38310 38" TV

1 Answer

Bright colors causes it to do crazy horizontal shifting.

This only seems to be a problem with the Nintendo Wii. I use component input for other systems (Xbox 360, PS2, etc.) with no problems. When bright colors are on the screen the top lines do a horizontal shift and the signal gets lost temporarily. This seems to happen only in the component inputs. It happens on both 480i and 480p resolutions. (Nintendo Wii's only supported resolutions). Here are some pictures of the problem: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/152/395211416_719eae8878_b_d.jpg http://farm1.static.flickr.com/142/395209879_0d1df93cc8_b_d.jpg http://farm1.static.flickr.com/182/395209877_7ad2d9d391_b_d.jpg http://farm1.static.flickr.com/149/395209873_b8e93c2c10_b_d.jpg

It's always nice to have pictures when diagnosing a set over the internet. I've seen this problem before. I found CR14710 burnt and the focus block arcing from the bottom of the control. The capacitor and other components in the circuit should be replaced as well. They only cost a few cents and damage to them is a possibility. Hope this helps.

What do the colors of a wii component cable mean

Red is for Right Audio Input
White is for Left Audio Input
Yellow is for Video input

We haven't used our wii a few months and now the color is so bright we can't play it. Our our game systems and our regular tv color settings are fine though. What can we do to fix this?

This is generally a setting limited to the television itself. Most TV's these days permit varied settings from one input device to the next. Therefore, every other device can appear the same while another may not. My guess would be that someone inadvertently modified the settings while the system was off. If they were only looking at a black screen, then the "brightness" would not be so apparent as it increased.

I recommend resetting the default video settings for your AV input connection (unless the Wii is input via another method).

Plugged in my wii after several months of not using it, it work excellent when I unhooked it. Now the picture has no color and very faint

I would first check your cables. It seems as though the RCA cable could have a problem, OR if your using a standard def set up (Yellow=Video, Red/White=Audio) make sure the TV input is not set on component. Component input will be looking for an RGB input method. Try using another input, make sure the wires are plugged in the right location, and the input is set correctly. Hope this helps :)

Why cant i get my wii console to work in color

Well it might either be the tv or the av cables that is causing the wii system to be in black grey and white then.
Picture Is Black and White or Does Not Appear Situation:
  • The console powers on and shows a black and white image on the television screen
  • The console powers on and there is no image on the television

What to do:
  • Determine whether the Standard AV Cables (packaged with the system) or the Component Cables (sold separately) are being used.

  • AV Cables

    • Ensure the yellow, red, and white cables are connected to the correct corresponding inputs on the TV. (How To)

    • Try another set of inputs on the TV, or hooking the Wii console up to another TV.

    • If the TV does not have the yellow, red and white inputs, it will most likely have component inputs which allow standard AV cable use. Try these AV hookup steps. (How To)

  • Component Cables

    • Ensure the red, blue and green video cables are connected to the correct corresponding inputs on the TV. (How To)

    • Try another set of inputs on the TV, or hooking the Wii console up to another TV.

Still Not Resolved:
  • If the television is continues to show a black and white image when powering on the Wii console, then the problem is likely with the system and it will need to be repaired. Please call 1-800-255-3700 so that we may assist you further.

How do i connect my nintendo to my samsung led tv

I am assuming that you are talking about a Nintendo Wii.  When you buy a Wii it comes with standard RCA composite cables that are three colors, Red, White and Yellow.  Yellow is the cable that carries the video signal and the red/white carry the stereo audio signal.  You would need to connect these cables into the corresponding color inputs on your tv.  Plug the yellow ended cable into the yellow jack on your TV and do the same for the red and white cables.  After this is done, you will need to switch your tv's input to the input that corresponds to the one you plugged those cables into.   Some newer flat panel TVs do not come with RCA composite inputs.  If this is your problem, you will need to get some component cables for your Wii.  These cables look identical to RCA (composite) cables but come in colors red, green, blue, red and white.  In this case the red, green and blue cables carry the video signal and the red and white carry the audio.  You can purchase these from just about any store that carries the Wii or online from places such as Amazon.com.

You would hook these up the same way by matching the colors and then changing your tv to the corresponding input.

Hope that helps!

Have a red wii. plays but no color help......plz

Check all the leads from the Wii to the TV and make sure they are not loose or broken. Also check the regional settings in the settings menu and make sure its set to your area.
If your TV has component inputs make sure you have a Wii component cable or you could buy a Wii RGB Scart cable if you only have a spare scart input. If you turn on the Wii press menu on your TV and alter the AV settings. For example, change the setting to composite opposed to RGB. Also check your Wii settings and change them to be in parallel with the TV settings.

Wii game hooked up to new Sharp LED tv. TV is color and the wii is in black and white.

Usually this is either a cable or a mode issue. First make sure that you have the correct cable connections. (Composite video cable to a component video jack is one possible cause of the problem.) Component video cables are not included with the set but will give better results. However, composite video in from the wii's composite video out should give good results.

If you are using HDMI or component video cables, then go into the Wii video menus to select the correct mode for your tv. Check your TV manual and the Wii setup guide for details on the mode (resolution, etc) you should be using.

If the problem persists, try new video cables and make sure that they are fully seated on both sides. Try switching inputs if you have several available.

I hope this helps.

Bought new componant cables for new tv and the wii will not play in color. tryed moving cables around still no luck the different combo's that i tried either switched every thing to all red or all blue!...

Make sure the colors line up.

If the tv has a second componant input then test it in that input.
What model tv are you pluging it into?
