TV makes a reoeated cricket sound & won't turn on.
As the TV was on, it just turned off all by itself and then started to make this repeated cricket like sound. The TV won't turn back on by either remote or manually on in the TV. It was unplugged for a few minutes and as soon as we turned it back on, the repeated cricket like sound started up again & the TV will not come on. What does this mean?

You have a short somewhere in your set. Most likely the horizontal output transistor. The sound that you are hearing is the power supply being overloaded.
If the horizontal output is shorted, you probably have a bad flyback (high voltage) transformer.
You need to have it checked out by service tech

i have a sharp lc-42sb55e and it has 2 kind of problem which are rotate each other.
1. problem: suddenly turn itself off and after 1 second it turn on itself and it repeat for a long time and once it suddenly ends. first i thought it is overheated, but it makes it when i turn it on after a day too.
2. problem: suddenly it start swiching betveen the plug ins (HDMI 1, HDMI2, HDMI3 PC, TV, SCART 1...) rapidly. once it sudenly ends. zesterday it made it for 3 hour.
Sounds stupid, but where is the remote control? I had a weird issue a few years ago where my TV would turn itself off constantly. Turned out the remote control 'off' button was wedged down.
Try covering the IR receiver with your hand and turning the TV on (make sure the IR window is well covered and no Infra-red could leak in!). If it is ok then something i transmitting an 'OFF' signal. If TV still turns off on its won then sounds like it could be quite ill, possibly dying.
TV needs new lamp as symptom shows existing lamp is weak and causing repeatedly on-off Please replace lamp in TV, replacement procedure is written in user manual and it is not difficult. Always buy Sony original lamp for TV safety. Let me know if you need further help. Thanks.
It means that the TV set has a short in it somewhere. The sound you hear is the power supply trying to start up and shutting down. Most likely the Horizontal output transistor shorted because of a bd high voltge flyback transformer went bad. Common problem for these types of sets. Good Luck
