Question about Zenith Z46Z83D 46" Rear Projection Television
My 46" Zenith rear projection TV now has a permanent "Hour-Glass" shape picture. It started out that it would come and go, but now it just stays. I have pulled the convergence board out, but I do not know where to get it checked or repaired/replaced. Is this the most likely problem? any chance it could be something else? I also cannot adjust the convergence on the TV.
Replace convergence ic's and 1ohm resistors near ic's check all solder connections on convergence board also check 110k ohm resistor in front of H.O.T on main deflection module.

If the hour glass figure is a seperation of colors that appear to be convegence mis aligned, then, the convergence ICs would be the problem. If the picture is clear and you have a bending on the sides then the pincusion circuit in the horizontal circuit is where to look. Be careful of this circuit, it does control the high voltage. The only way to have a board checked is to have an Authorized Service Center look at it. It does, however, sound like there is a cold solder joint in the power supply that has gradually opened up and now is permanantly open. Call Zenith (LG) to see who they recommend.
