In the UK and have a Toshiba SD-420E DVD player. Had a it a few years (maybe 3) and bought it from now defunct Techtronics where is was chipped for Multi Region. It has become occassionally awkward to take DVDs - opens the drive and won't play, or won't close the drive or the drives opens then shuts before you can grab the disc. This has been acceptable since a couple of retrys normally sorts it and it does not happen all the time. Recently, however, I can't get it to play new DVDS. We bought the Wizard of Oz and Casino Royale (UK Region) and it won't accept them - you close the drive and it opens it again. After 3 tries or so it then powers off and you start the process again. Can't understand this as it plays all our other DVDs both UK and US region. Any ideas please ?
SOURCE: Can only play DVDs for one region code.
Most DVDs can only play DVDs from a single region. However, they sometimes allow you to change the region at least one time. Another option is to make your DVD player region free. This is a hack that can be performed. Once you do this, you can play DVDs from any region.
