Jerky Image Can you please help me i am getting a jerky image from my webcam the video image is clear but the transition is not smooth

Your camera is likely taking still pictures, a few per second. For smooth movie-like motion, you need at least 24 frames per second. Your camera may be adjustable.

Jerky play back on a PC is determined by a few things. Video card memory, RAM, CPU processor speed, and *codec*. VLC has it's own codec so does not rely on the ones supplied by Windows. If even VLC is playing it back choppy, try lowering the video resolution. It may be too high for the video card to handle.

Perhaps you don't have enough RAM to run the file at it's full resolution. Reduce background tasks or close them using the task manager. Upgrade your video card, add more RAM. If you can't add RAM or a video card - either reduce the resolution setting on the camera for next time, or use the HDMI port on the camera to directly playback video to a HDMI device.

Hello Janice, its either your PC is to slow or the connection on the web is also slow or the camera driver is not yet setup properly. there a CD DRIVER you need to install for that webcam, try also the PC screen resolution.

My Dad has a Compaq Presario with a built in webcam. I have a very nice external webcam for my desktop. On my computer, his picture is jerky and blurry....he says I look clean, clear and smooth. We're...

hi susan...( by the way my surname is Morris to lol ) anyhow...well you are right, web cams on laptops are no way near as good as the external ones and also with laptops they are not as good at handling web related images as well as home pc's, i think the best solution would be to purchase an external web cam and use that, if i may sugest a nice web cam that i personally use on my laptop when i am away it the logitech web-cam 250, this is an excellent web-cam to use for laptops and are very cheap to purchase....hope this helps happy new year

If webcam can video record. acer crystal clear.

Web cams are very poor cousins of actual video cameras. You can record but it will not be of much use when viewed on a large screen. Moreover, the resolution and fps would be very low giving you a blurred and jerky movements. Not worh the effort.

Screen transition while scrolling

Seems like a problem with the video card driver. Can you check if Windows is using "Standard VGA Driver" video? (Right click the My Computer Icon, select Properties - Hardware - Device Manager - 2x Click Display Adapter.) If you can identify the video card/chip of your computer (Example Nvidia or ATI), you may need to get the appropriate drivers to optimize your display.
