My cub cadet LTX 1045 will not start. I paused mowing and when I tried to resume the engine stalled and will not restart. Battery is fully charged; engine turns over, gas in the carb; but no spark. New spark plug=same, no spark. Pulled the kill wire off the magneto (solenoid?) and still no spark.

The problem with your unit is more than the solenoid. The carburetor is bad and therefore does not allow the flow of gasoline into the system for combustion to take place. When you put the starter fluid the fluid goes in and acts as gasoline and allows combustion to take place but once it runs out the engine dies. Since you have been able to get the carburetor for sale it is best you just replace the complete carburetor as replacing parts of the whole carburetor would only cause more problems. Although there are parts of the carburetor which could still be salvaged but salvaging parts will only bring further problems to the unit. Simply get the complete carburetor if you can afford it and replace it.
