Alina, your player may just have encountered some corruption or system errors. Not to worry. Try and see if this would help: Switch your Sansa E260 to its Recovery Mode: 1. Make sure the player is powered off 2. Enable the "Hold" switch (located on the top of the player). You would know it's enabled when you see the "orange-colored" surface 3. Press the "Record" button. Make sure you keep it pressed while pressing on the "Menu" button. 4. keep your fingers pressed on these 2 buttons until the E260 LCD screen displays "Welcome to Recovery Mode" 5. Connect your E260 to your computer. (Just a reminder: The minimum Operating System requirements for a Sansa E200 player is Windows XP and above) 6. Double-click on "My Computer" and you would see your Sansa E260 appear as a "16 MB" drive. Note: If you do not see that "16 MB" drive/partition, please repeat steps 1-6. Next, Apply the firmware for the E260 (your player should be connected to your PC at this time): Step 1: Use this link to download the firmware for your Sansa E260 (for better results, please save this file on your "Desktop": http://www.sandisk.com/Assets/File/Downl... Step 2: Double left-click on the downloaded file, and follow the on-screen prompts. The file will automatically re-flash your player and format it as well, thereby clearing all possible file/system corruptions that may have occurred. Step 3: When the process is complete, unplug your E260 from your computer, and please make sure you disable the "Hold" switch Step 4: Power up your E260 and 90-99% of the time, it would boot up successfully. Step 5: Enjoy using your Sansa E260, just like I do. (I love this player)

Sansa 260 R load main image failed message

Hello,

The Sansa e260 Rhapsody could be recovered by resetting the player.
How to reset the player :
1. Player switched on.
2. Press and hold the power button for approximately 30 seconds.
3. Put the player back on.

When the fault is not resolved a firmware update / reinstallation needs to be made. There are 2 steps needed for getting new firmware on the player.

Step 1: switching the player into recovery mode / MSC mode

1. Turn off the player.
2. Slide the Hold/Lock switch on top of the player so an orange color is showing.
3. Press and hold the REC button and connect the device to the computer.
4. A message will appear on the device display screen confirming the connection and a memory partition will be viewable in My Computer.
5. Release the REC button.
Step 2: Update the firmware ( updating firmware always in MSC mode, see Step 1 )
Use next link for updating the firmware:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/306
The Sansa updater installation on the computer should be the easiest way to update firmware.

Cant get passed recovery mode

this came from another post on fix ya.

For me the solution was this:
After entering the recovery mode (turn off the player, move the hold button to the right, and press the on and rec button, then connecting to the computer).
when the 16 mb folder opens create a NEW FOLDER (not a text document) called "Sansa.fmt". then disconec the usb and it was fixed.

Load main image failed, Switch to recovery mode"

If it still plugs in and works properly, you can try to format it or try to update its firmware with the firmware updater that you can download from sandisk.com and then click on download.

My Sansa e280 forze

Try plugging the player into the computer and formatting it. This will erase the music from the player, but you have a copy of the music on your computer as well. I think this will solve your problem.

Good luck.

Hope this would help. Have you updated the firmware of your player? Try updating the firmware of your player. When the player is turn off slide the hold switch for it to show orange/red color. Then press the Record and the menu button until is shows on the screen welcome to recovery mode. Then go to sandisk website and download the firmware update and install it to your computer. HELP ME PLEASE!!!

Hi Alina. Seems like oyur Sansa E260 is experiencing some system errors. Here's a procedure you could try -- it's setting your player to the Recovery Mode and re-flashing its firmware. I hope this helps: RECOVERY MODE Switch your Sansa E260 to its Recovery Mode: 1. Make sure the player is powered off 2. Enable the "Hold" switch (located on the top of the player). You would know it's enabled when you see the "orange-colored" surface 3. Press the "Record" button. The file will automatically re-flash your player and format it as well, thereby clearing all possible file/system corruptions that may have occurred which caused the "Load Main Image Failed" notification in the first place. Step 3: When the process is complete, unplug your E260 from your computer, and please make sure you disable the "Hold" switch Step 4: Power up your E260 and 90-99% of the time, it would boot up successfully. If not, try steps 1-4 again
