SOURCE: hisense air conditioner

-If both compressor and fan motor starts and stop, thermostat is the defect.
- If only the compressor check for your outlet no sign of discoloration, check the voltage if normal, check the defective overload protector of the compressor it its external, or compressor itself is defective

SOURCE: 2 problems.. AC Comp cuts out. And Fan will not stop.

Unit#2 -Sounds like the contacts on the master switch are welded closed or the switch is broken, Replacing the switch should fix this unit.
#1 is a little more difficult to diagnose. The compressor is being taken off line by a circuit that protects the compressor from damage either; 1- liquid refrigerant getting back to the compressor which can be caused by something as simple as a clogged return air filter or evaporator coil on a heat pump or 2- overload situation caused by a bad condenser motor or a clogged condenser coil. The first thing you need to do is clean both coils and replace the filter,. Then check to be sure your getting good airflow across both coils. I think it's most likely an airflow issue I hope this resolves the problem GL!

SOURCE: Samsung Ac compressor stops after 20 minutes and fan keep running

eventually, cycling process is doing done if the thermostat sense the configure temperayure set up it will trigger to stop your compressor motor as well as the blower fan, blower fan independenly to you compressor.if your thingking that your compressor is tripping off, check your operating current on one line using clamp ammeter and compare to the rated current that tag on
motor compressor body,if the current flow is higher than the rated current specified on compressor motor, well problem occured it will trip your compressor, because overload protector is becoming your thermostat.but if you got same current result it was cycling process. If tripping off maybe air is present in your system call qualified ac tech, to purge out air in system.

Until now this unit has never had the compressor run without the fan. Is the compressor running without the fan a problem? If so, what can I do to correct it?

Possibly a tstat issue. Run system until satisfied, once satisfied indoor fan shuts down compressor still runs remove tstat face plate and see if compressor shuts down. Another issue could be a sticking contactor for compressor. With a meter you could check at the contactor to see if you lose your 24volts for cooling but contactor remains pulled in.

Can hear compressor, cois get frosty but fan cuts out after five minutes. Why?

IF THE FAN IS CUTTING OUT U MAY HAVE STUCK TIMER IN THE DEFROST CYCLE MODE BUT MORE LIKELY U HAVE A POWER ISSUE, IS THIS A digital cold control thermostat? if so the control board itself may not be communicating with the thermostat, when the fan cuts out does the compressor keep running? and no clicking sounds?

External unit noisy

Sounds like bearings are out on the compressor. I'm assuming that it's not the fan motor making the noise, cause if it was - and the fan motor is cycling on and off - it (fan moter cycling on/off) will also cause the compressor to cycle on and off.

But, since you say it's the compressor (from which the noise is coming from) I would have to say the compressor's bearings are out and since it's a hermetic (sealed) compressor - your only option is to have a service tech check it out to be sure.

Note: I think you are correct (in thinking) a thermal overload is cutting off the compressor, because the compressor does have a 'saftey overload' built internally in the compressor just for that reason.

good luck!

Fridge and freezer not cooling. The fan is running

Is the compressor clicking? If so, the pressure may be too high. tHis happens if the temperature control is lowered too soon after the compressor cuts off, or if house power fails for a shorrt period, etc.

1. UNPLUG the power cord.
2. Set the temperature dial to the settings you want.
3. Close doors and wait a full 10 minutes (more if you don't get impatient).
4. After 10 full minutes, plug power cord back in. It should start now.
5. Try not to open fridge for an hour or so, or until you hear tyhe compressor cycle off.

Hope this hellps!

AC Unit is not cooling.

hi...
Every air conditioner has a motor called a compressor. The compressor provides the cooling capacity for the air conditioner. If the compressor or its electrical controls are defective the compressor may try to start, fail, and create an electrical overload. If the unit does create an overload, every compressor circuit is also equipped with an overload safety switch. The safety switch is designed to protect the compressor from burning out. The safety switch will cut the power to the compressor for a certain length of time and then reset itself. When it resets it will allow the electricity to flow to the compressor once again. If the compressor then starts, the unit should function normally. If the compressor doesn't start when the overload resets, the overload will again cut the electricity to the compressor. This cycle will continue indefinitely. (Always allow three to five minutes before restarting the compressor.) If this situation is occurring, unplug the air conditioner and get help from a qualified repair technician. This problem is often fatal to the air conditioner because the cost of repair often exceeds the price of a new air conditioner...

hope this will give u a clear idea..

Unit Cools for two minutes and takes a three minute break.

There is a safety shutting down the compressor. Either the thermal overload is cutting it off because its getting too hot for some reason. Dirty coil, filter or fan speed, though you said the fan is running so that's out. Does the compressor feel really hot when its cycling on and off? If its not, its possible the thermal disc is bad, but unlikely. The other safety is low pressure (freon) You kind of need a set of A/C gauges to test this accurately. Hope this helps. These safeties are there to prevent the compressor from burning out, when something small is the problem, as its the most expensive part. You sound like have covered all the bases, so check the coils and filter, if there still is a problem, then you need to call a service tech. for warranty.
