SOURCE: T5900 Walkie Talkie Issue

Hello Bo Duke,

If one radio won't walk to the other my guess if that you have the Privacy Code function set up incorrectly.

The privacy code function mutes the radio unless it receives a signal from another radio transmitting the same privacy code. If Privacy Codes are turned on for Radio A but not turned on for Radio B then you will be able to transmit from Radio A to Radio B but not from Radio B to Radio A. If Privacy Codes are turned on for both radios but each unit is set to a different code then neither radio will be able to talk to the other.

Make sure that the radios are both set to the same privacy code or that the privacy code function is turned off on both radios. You can find more information on how this function is set in the radio's Owner's Manual.

Hope this helps!

swap batteries if does not work this unit should need repair or replace, display blinking can be produced for power failure ( battery, contacts, circuits) or can be a controller issue.

Yes. That is a strong possiblity. Many models of Motorola will emit a tone when not programmed, or by placing the channel selector on an unprogrammed channel.

Not certain what order you are doing it, so I will type a brief explanation:

With the radio turned OFF, hold in the PTT and the MON, while turning the radio on. Continue to hold the PTT and MON until the radio stops making noise. You are then in programming mode and can use the menu button to walk through the stages of programming.

PTT button on RDV 2020 is hard to push

This problem is typically caused by small component behind the PTT button being cracked or broken. The RDX series radios respond best if the user presses the PTT button in the center versus the top or bottom sections of the button. Once the button becomes hard to press it is best to get the radio repaired. Commonly if the radio remains in use the PTT issue will get worse as the internal PTT component is pressed harder, pushing it further away from the outside button and eventually loosening it from the component board.

Best regards.

Hold the push to talk(PTT) button while turning the unit on, it will talk to you. press PTT to change channel, push monitor to switch to codes, press PTT to change codes. When you have the correct settings press monitor and it will confirm settings.
