Question about Oreck XL Deluxe U3700 Bagged Upright Vacuum

3 Answers

No Power Hi, I have an Oreck XL vacuum. It's only a couple of years old and I have never had problems with it. The other day, I was vacuuming and it just stopped working. It was plugged all the way in and had a new bag. I tried to plug it in somewhere else thinking that the outlet might have blow out, but that wasn't the problem. I just wanted to know if you have a suggestion as to what I could do to fix this problem. Thanks, Marcella

After reading this, I removed the 6 (philips) screws from the plastic handle assembly. Sheeeit! Easy fix. Wire terminal/connector had pulled loose from switch. Pushed on and back in business.

Too late for the original poster for for anyone else researching a similar problem the cause is more likly a defective switch or plug.

Try the fuse of course. if that is ok, a likely cause is the mains cable broken usually near the point where it enters machine. if neither of those, suspect the switch or possibly a motor fault

ORECK'S DO NOT HAVE A FUSE. GUEST'S SOLUTION IS THE MOST LIKELY.

IF TERMINALS ARE CONNECTED, EITHER DO CONTINUITY TESTS TO FIND DEFECTIVE PART, OR LET AN AUTHORIZED ORECK TECH FIND IT FOR YOU.

Replace a motor

You can find a replacement motor:

Suction problem

Probably have a clog some where in the base and that is what causes it to throw stuff back out.

Oreck xl won't start

This could be for various reasons. Check the power cord and try a different outlet first. See if the power cord is loose or damaged. Next check the brushroll and belt that those are in working order. If you smelt burning or electrical fire or your vacuum made an odd noise before stopping it may be the motor going bad. If your power cord is good and the brushroll and belt good, it is probably your motor going bad.

Hi, I have a 1 year old XL Pro Plus Upright. Motor works fine, brushes are turning but it will not create any vacuum. we made sure thenew bag is connected properly and still no suction. Any advise? Thanks,...

The belt that turns the brush bar is probably stretched and worn. Once this happens, you will lose suction. When they get worn they stretch, thus causing it to spin on the bar itself.Just simply replace the belt with a new one that fits your machine.

Good Luck!
