Satellite No Longer An Option on My Kenwood KDC-MP228

This morning I was driving along listening to Sirius satellite radio when it suddenly went silent. I tried switching to another satellite preset, but it was as if the radio was "frozen." So, I turned off the entire radio after about a minute and went to turn it back on and it went straight to TUNER (FM). I pressed the button again and it went to STANDBY. I pressed it again (thinking it would go to SIRIUS, which is usually the next selection), but it went back to TUNER (FM). The bottom line is: I can listen to FM/AM radio but SIRIUS is no longer a choice on my radio. It goes from TUNER to STANDBY every time I press the button. Help!

Your going to need to pull off the battery cable for about 2 to 5 minutes and see if this will reset the radio. Good Luck

HOW DO I CONNECT MY KENWOOD KDC-BT555U RADIO TO SIRIUS

If it Sirius capable, get the radio's Sirius satellite ESN, (electronic serial number), from your radio and call Sirius satellite radio and they will tell you what to do. I don't know how to get this number from your unit but in my Lincoln, all I had to do was push and hold the Sirius button on the dash with the radio on and it popped up on the display. Your instruction manual should tell you how to do it. If it isn't compatible, you'll have to buy a Sirius receiver and have it activated with them. Good luck.

The radio says it's Satellite ready, but when I hit the search button I do not get a Satellite option. When I called Sirius/XM to switch service from one car to another, they said that I must now also...

No it is satellite ready, meaning you need to add atuner to the stereo, but you can use the stereo to control the tuner. Again, a seperate tuner will need to be bought and installed. Good Luck.

Sirius

Basically, this just means that the head unit is designed to be ready to have a Sirius Satellite Radio system installed. Instead of having to cut and chop wiring and the like, it's ready to just be plugged into the head unit. No need for added expense of adapters and the like just to hook the system up to your car. :)

NO SIGNAL all of a sudden. Gone. Lost.

Hey adam, check that antenna wire! It's probably pulling out at the antenna/magnet end. Adam, I checked that and sure enough, it was pulling out. So I put on a new antenna and problem solved! Thanks Adam!
