In your philips menu there is an option to turn of your auto aspec ratio to OFF then using your sky remote go to services, 4 then picture and ensure that this is set to 16:9
You do not say which breed of sky you have.. old analogue, digital, sky + or sky HD if you have old analogue then you may have to connect through aerial connection, digital will have a scart socket to connect to your tv, sky + will have the same and finally the cream of the crop sky HD will have hdmi in addition to scarts.
The very least you need to do for a digital picture (not to be confused with hi-def which it isn't) is connect through scart lead then unless it auto-switches to scart input upon switching on sky use your tv remote to select the ext input 1, 2 or 3 etc (some remotes have a button called source for this some call it input etc) select each ext input until you find the one your sky is connected to
