Won't start Get no response from dryer when pushing start button. The breaker is fine the door sensor button appears to be working, it clicks when pushed and released, the timer makes no sound when set on its cycle, but I don't remember if it ever did.

I have a Haier dryer model GDE480BW. The lights come on but when I push start it only clicks. If there are fuses to be replaced where can I locate them and what should I be looking for?

Your issue might be the thermal fuse. This page goes over that and other potential causes for your model dryer.
The clicking could be the start relay or the door switch ... hard to say.
Good luck on your troubleshooting

Maytag dryer 2003 was working great I took one dried load out put another in and started the dryer. Working just fine then I found a wet garment that I dropped so I opened dryer door added this item...

When your dryer won't start, it could be a number of problems from a broken door latch or start switch to an exhaust duct blocked by lint. It could even be a tripped circuit breaker or blown fuse.

The first step in troubleshooting any electrical appliance is to ensure that it is plugged in and receiving power. While dryer plugs do not come loose easily, it can happen.

For more troubleshooting tips, read Dryer won't start for possible causes, signs to look for and things you can do. I hope this helps!

DRYER WON'T START

it may be in the start button or it may be a sensor on the door is not working properly. you also may have a breaker issue. on alot of dryers you have a 2 pole breaker and if you lose one side of the power at that breaker it can lose some of its capacity to operate certain functions on your appliance

Dryer was working fine a load finished and when i started a new load it would not work meaning when i pushed the button nothing happened

Might be something as simple as the "settings" knob is not completely reset.... or the circuit breaker is open at the fuse panel... or the door latch sensor is not tight.

So, check each (in the order listed) and I suspect that you will correct the problem

Drier button does not work when push it to start machine

You need to check the dryer door switch. I may be bad. If the timer is clicking it is probably working fine. Also you need to check that the dryer is getting power to the unit. Check your breakers and also pull the unit out and look at the dryer cord. Check the terminals for a short or burnt looking one. Once you have established you have power going to the unit, you can find where the comunication stops within it.

Whirlpool dryer model LEQ8800JQ won't start when push start butto

I posted today (Jan 2, 2009) that I had same problem. Handyman tested for blown thermal fuse, etc and everything was fine. He said I have to replace the timer switch .. well guess what - I fidgeted with the start button (on/off) hard a few times while simultaneously pressing & releasing door switch and it did the trick. In my case the problem was most likely with the start button. Dryer is working fine now!

Fisher Paykel ED56 auto sensor dryer - just not working!

Hi,

It might be the circuit breaker of the mains/AC line. Pls try using another outlet/source of power. Alternately, most dryers have their own circuit breaker at the back of the unit. This would appear to be a push button switch, pls try see if your unit has one and press on it.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
