We have a Kenmore range, model 790.9468. We heard a loud popping sound while the oven was on at 350. Everything shut off. The breakers were flipped, & I reset them. Since then, the control panel is lit up with ''Bake'', ''self clean'' and ''cook time''. None of the buttons are operational, but the oven light works. The stovetop burners work, but the oven will not.
Suggestions?

I have the same problem... I checked both elements and they are fine. I was wondering if it was the ERC. Have you fixed yours yet? Please let me know.

Thanks for responding so quickly. Can you tell me what could have caused this & if we can do this ourselves? I hope so, because my husband has been laid off, & we are definitely watching expenses!
Thanks again.

No buttons working on the control panel of my 5-year old Kenmore electric range (Model C970-6570). Stovetop working and oven light working. Problem as preceeded by two large sparks (or small fireballs!) at a 2 week interval while baking at 350.
Opened two parts of the control panel and found a 'crater' where there was once solder, and a lot of black soot. Bought and installed a new relay with tabs built into the relay, and this should have worked... Darn, it didn't. Anyone know where can I get an inexpensive or rebuild control panel?
