Samsung HL-r5667w TV shuts down on its own.

Hello, We have a 2 year old Samsung HL-R5667W tv. We have been having problems with it just shutting down on its own every couple minutes. When it does this the on/off switch lights up with the following. (Timer/Lamp/Stand by temp)

last night we watched TV and it did not do it, this morning my children were watching TV and it was doing it.

    My samsung is doing the same same thing. it is powering on and off by its self. It only stays on our off for like 3 secounds. I have tried unplugiing it still the same problem!

    Thank you for the quick answer TVGUY171, do you have any idea on what a new color wheel would cost? I am out in the country about 200 miles from the nearest service center, just curious as to how much its going to cost me to fix this thing.

You may have a colorwheel going bad. The bearings start going out and this is an indication of the failure. The colorwheel is located in the light engin e therefore you may want to get a qualified tech to look at it

    Depending on the model tv you, there are two different colorwheels. To find the correct colorwheel you need the full model number (it will be HLR5667WX/XAA or something of that nature) and also the version. The version can be found on a sticker on either the left or right side of the TV. The sticker will have the model number, serial number and the version. The version will be SP01 , BF02 or something like that. The cost of either of the colorwheels is around $100 just for parts. Good luck and let me know if I can be of further assistance

Ur tv have a colors wheel design it it.100% ur colors wheel is dead,require replacing.Huming or winning motor noises or colors fades flips or flashes black&white wthin pictures.The colors wheel is the causes and dying not spinning inside it motor axis anymore.The colors wheel sit way back of the tv,require take out alots of the tv manchanical parts out,before it can take out and replace it.U have no machanical skills don't tries this.Hire a tv tech. to replace the colors wheel.

Ur tv have a convergence problems.The 2 STK convergence ICS are defective and dying.The shop will fix this for u about $300-350 for parts and labors.

Most likely your colorwheel is bad,
second possibility is the digital board.
Both are for a technician to install, you could do more damage poking around inside the TV.

Samsung dlp hl-r5667w

This Tv make a lot problems with the color wheel and fan thermostat, lamp cool. Need be check the color wheel first. I am suggested dont have nothing on the back cover ( make hot or not ventilation). More information parts at tritronicsinc.com Thank you

I just responded to your other post check the connection between the lamp and ballast at both ends. Also did you get the same exact lamp as your old lamp, as Samsung has two different arc gaps and they wont work if you get the other type even though they look the same physically.

Samsung DLP TV HL-R5667W shuts off intermittently

Afraid there is no simple answer to this. This set has multiple things that could shut it down, one may be the balest needs a upgrade , this could be why it seems to be eating lamps. Another is what sounds like a fan is a color wheel , these have known problems of failing, and when this happens sometimes they shut down the set. And finaly does the set have good ventalation, overheating can cause huge problems with this set

Your set has a defective color wheel. This is the noise you hear and why the set wont even come on now. The colors were bleeding because the color wheel was getting stuck and when you hit the set you unstuck it. You need to call a tech to put in a color wheel the part is about 100 dollars plus labor.

Color Wheel problem.. to generate colors on a dlp the light is shine through a motorized wheel. that has different color filters on it. this is a motor and anthing that moves will eventally wear out. i just replaced the color wheel on a samsung today. standard for this to go out in about that time. i believed our shop charged 250 to put a new one in.
