Control panel turns on but dryer won't start. Start/pause button just beeps when pushed. Opened the front panel to the door switch with multimeter. It looks fine. What could be the issue?

your gonna have to go deeper than the door switch,do you know you can't get the blower motor for this dryer anymore,i don't know why they had to have two motors in their dryers?could be a broken belt, computer issues, bad t-stat or thermal fuse, the only way to tell is by checking it out with meter, also make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer,go in the back where the cord connects to dryer and check it there, there's no one answer for this problem, you just have to take it apart and start reading out the thermal fuse high limit t-stat,stuff like that,to find out.i remember the first time i worked on this style dryer,it took me around 20 minutes to figure out how to get it apart, some jerk put the control panel screw behind the knob, had to pull the knob off and then remove the screw to get the top off to take it apart lol,and they have a funky belt setup and two motors,i gotta tell you i would never buy a ge dryer,to much just to dry clothes.sorry i can't help you out with an answer, you can go here, put your model number in and see the parts in your dryer

like i said,i only worked on one of these style dryers and it is different from regular dryers,if you can't get it open check the control knob, pop it off and as far as i can remember, this was like 8 years ago i removed the screw behind it,then you can get at the screws to remove the top panel to get into it.wish i knew that at the time, thought it was just gonna be a regular ge dryer repair

I have a GE profile dryer model# DPVH890Ejww upon starting it turns for about 2 seconds then stops turning.I was going to check the belt ,But couldn't even figure how to get the back off and I'm very...

couldn't pull up the model number so if it's a newer model you have to take out the top panel screws in the back, then go to the front and pop off the timer knob and there's a screw there that lets you remove the front control panel and then you can get at the other screws that hold the top on,this isn't an easy dryer to work on,it has a funky belt system in it.if it's an older model open the door and look up at the top panel, you'll see two screws there, remove them and remove the top panel, then look down the sides and you'll see a screw on each side remove them and remove the front panel.hope this helps.i'm going by memory and unplug the dryer before you get into it.

GE dryer model DCA3BC8776 'Start' knob has come

you should be able to replace the knob from the front of the panel without removing the control panelit has a "D" shaft on the knob and shaft also has a "D" configuration too? right?

The knob on the right just turns (no clicking) so it does not seem to be selecting a time. now dryer wont start.

Check your timer knob. On these GE dryers I have found a lot of times the knob cracks where the stem of the timer goes in and the resistance of the timer will make ti slip internally rather than turning the knob. If the knob appears to be ok, then I would say you definitely have a bad timer on your hands.
Timer is part number WE4M271 and runs around $100 from marcone's
Knob is
WE1M654 and is around 18$

Good ;uck with this!!

The knob stem that for the turn on knob broke

Hello keppoet,
Since you only provided a brand and not a model number, I cannot track down the exact control knob that you require but here is a link to a website that you can use to get that part yourself. If this fails to provide the right info, please include the model number with the GE Brand next time..
Hope this helps you.. Here is the link http://www.repairclinic.com/SmartSearch/smartsearch.aspx
