I have a Sony Trinitron model KV-27V42. It's about 7 years old, and it shut off while I was wathcing it about two days ago. When I try to turn it on, I can hear it click like it always does, and then the screen remains blank. There is a red standby/timer button that flashes a couple times every 30 seconds or so...I have no clue what is wrong with it..Please Help!!!!

How old is this tv?More than 5 years old.Not worth it to repair CRT tv at this prices.Tries unplug, replug an hour later, might help, see if reset itself.U can buy a pretty good 32" LCD tv at $400 or less these day.It not heavy as the CRT tv,it alot easier to move the tv around the house or other locations.
Turn it off u leave on to long ur CRT Tube will dies soner.Resolder the FBT,the flyback transformer, the big block of plastic with a red wire with a cap hook to the and the transistor beside it.This transformer is the HV to the CRT to get power.
Most probably the IC504 (Sharp PQ05RD21) on A-Board went bad. This
model TV, including mine, is notorious for having this problem. The IC
is rather easy to find and inexpensive (around $2.50). Your main
problem will be desoldering the old one and soldering the new one.
I had the same problem 3 years ago. I called in a Sony tech and he said this was a common problem with this model. He replaced several resistors and resoldered several "Coaled Solder" connections. The repair ran $187 but the set has run great ever since!
