I have a Sony Trinitron model KV-27V42. It's about 7 years old, and it shut off while I was wathcing it about two days ago. When I try to turn it on, I can hear it click like it always does, and then the screen remains blank. There is a red standby/timer button that flashes a couple times every 30 seconds or so...I have no clue what is wrong with it..Please Help!!!!

Exactly the same problem. Happened today.
Just shut off and has the 4 blinking stand-by light code. We had major, repeated power failures less than 2 weeks ago. I commented to my wife at that time, we will probably lose some major appliance due the 12 or 15 power surges in 2 minutes...not enough time to pull plugs on everything in the house!!
