Hello, I'm having trouble with my ring flash firing. I checked the connectors, manual flash doesn't work but the Ready light blinks when I press the manual flash button. When I turn it off and on again , I hear an audible charging sound. When I take a picture the Ready light flashes as well. Everything seems normal except no flash. Maybe my tubes are out? Any idead would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Re: Nikon SB-29s macro speedlight
Trigger coil or a flash tube. Flash tube is easier to replace so try to replace that first. Caution before you do anything else when you open the unit locate the main 330v capacitor and discharge it before you work on the unit !

This sounds like there may be a short in the control circuit that senses the flash command. First check the wiring and the circuit area where the connector feeds. check to see if the connector circuit is shorted. These are some of the basics. It could be the internal circuit board is shorted.
I have SB-600 Speedlight. it dropped from my hand , from then, it goes to READy state but didn't flash.
Please help me to find a solution for repair it or any tech service with resonable rate .
Yes, though it's an older flash unit and cannot be used in the iTTL mode. The "Other Flash Units" section of the D300s manual (page 350 in my copy) lists the modes in which the flash may be used. Another concern is that the flash may not work well with certain lenses. The "Usable lenses and cameras" section of the SB-29 manual (page 5) discusses this.
If you need manual, you can download the D300s manual from http://support.nikontech.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16525/kw/D300S/r_id/116678 and the SB-29 manual from http://butkus.org/chinon/nikon/nikon_sb_flashes/nikon_sb_flashes.htm
