Question about Kenmore 79013 Stainless Steel Gas Kitchen Range
The oven door lock will continue to lock and unlock while blinking door locked on control panel. If you hold the cancel button it will unlock and give error code F90 on panel but the oven is still not useable and will keep beeping until you hit cancel.
The F90 fault indicates that the maximum time allowed for oven door unlock was exceeded. The control attempted to unlock the door. The door lock motor or mechanism failed to unlock the door within the maximum amount of time it is allowed to be energized by the control board.
It is unlikely that you will be able to reset this fault code. You can try to completely disconnect electrical power and leave it off for 5 minutes. After reconnecting power, the fault code will probably reappear since the control will still detect that the oven door is locked. The only way to clear the fault code is to disassemble the range and repair or reset the oven door lock assembly. You will need a service technician to complete this repair.

To reset the fault code you need to lift the stove top up by removing the 2 screws that hold the top down. they are located just above the top corners of the oven door. Locate the small black box in the middle near the locking mechanism. now you can hit cancel to reset the code, then before it flashes "F90" you flip the switch on the black box. This will trick the oven into thinking that the switch is working properly and will clear the code. The Door lock will not work any more and the code will re-appear if you try and use the self cleaning. but hey at least you can use your stove again.

We had the faulty code F90 that came up after our stove top won't work and got the F11. Holding down the stop/cancel button for 3 seconds worked to reset the F11, allowing our stove top unlock and work, but then the oven won't work. The F90 code came up. Could get that to reset. So we took the advice of Solution #2, earthen, and disconnecting all electrical power off for 5 minutes work!
Thank you for blogging this solution!!
