Question about D-Link Express DCS-900 Network Camera
Hi folks: Just bought one of these cameras to try and so far it seems great - much better image quality than the wirless X-10 cameras I had been using. One issue has occurred. When using the active X over the internet to view the video the video seems to freeze about every 5 to 10 seconds - it usually comes back after another few seconds. (Freezing does not occur on my local network) Would I be correct to assume that this is an uplink problem? - i.e. upload capacity of my DSL line is not fast enough to accomodate the streaming video? I set the image to be 160 x 120, 15 fps and very high compresion - this seemed to help a bit. Is there anything else I should be doing (firmware version is 3.00 2005-11-16) Best regards, thanks for any suggestions you can offer... Dave Melnyk, Toronto, Canada
I'm having the same problem except ten times worse. I am positive it has to do with the router, because I had to mess with it to get my Windows Live messenger to work...
Are you connected through a router?

Dave, While of course it may be a capacity issue. Is the video smoother at different times of the day? or is it every 5-10 seconds no matter what time of day. It may be security software checking the stream. How is your firewall/router set? Do you have a designated port for the camera? Let me know if that helps at all. Good Luck, Tim
