No Center Sound

I have a Sapphire center that I hooked up to my STR-DE335 receiver. There is only very slight sound coming from it. When people speak, it sounds really distant. The two Sapphire towers and Velodyne sub work just fine. I've never had problems with this center before. Is the center channel shot?

It probably isn`t :) it should be a problem with the settings :) i have a str de335 too and i get decent sound.. it depends on what type of source of input u`re using . try this.. hook up a stereo source. go into setup mode.. select wide or normal setting for center, then activate sound field .. c-studio for example.. if the sound is annoying something is wrong with the amp.. :-s btw use the delay settings from 1-6 6 if they are close together :) . When using 5.1 input... turn off soundfield always.. and triple check center settings&levels

I have a receiver sony str-de135, it is power on but the after a lillte while the protect annouce on the screen then the sound does not come out . ts that can be the trasistor problem or some thing else?

What is happening is that you have a component about to fail. as the component heats up it becomes intermitant or open. You need to take it to a repair shop

Hello my sony audio/video control center #STR DE335 is in PROTECT MODE.. and i cant listen to it..can u please tell me whats wrong?

PROTECT display indicates that receiver got serious problem in output amplifier section and protection mode is activated to avoid further damage.
Output amplifier section should be tested by qualified technician to find out and replace defective part(s) to solve this issue. Local repair shop will do this job as it is not user level repair.

PROTECT shows every time I turn my reciever on. It's a SONY model #STR-DE335

Turn it OFF. Look for shorted speaker wires or shorted speakers.

None found? Disconnect all speaker wires and try to turn it on.

Turns on ok? One of the speakers/cable pairs is shorted. Check them again.

No good? It's dead. take it to a tech.

The STR directs sound to the center as instructed by its speaker setup. You say the center does not work on calibration. Is it defined?

Prove another speaker does or does not work on the center output. Then we'll know if it's the receiver or the speaker ensemble that has the problem.

Have you checked the manual for this "
There is no sound, or only a very low-level sound is heard from the center/ surround. "?

Connecting dvdplayer. how?

connect the DVD video out to your TV video in, and connect your DVD audio out to your Sony STR-DE335 Audio in. In this way you can watch movie while listening thru your Sony's amplified sound.

Center Channel not Working

Check that it's center speaker in the set-up menu is on and that the sound field that it's in uses the center speaker. try it in pro logic. It could be a bad solder connection on the speaker terminal or on the relay in the receiver.
