GE Dishwasher (Model: GSD4260J00SS). leak

We have a leak above the inlet sump. It appears to be easy to remove. I am not sure if water is backing up causing water to push back against the seal forcing water back out. Are there any suggestions? I looked up part 505 at the attached link for the GE dish washer site.. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5206718&diagram_id=29414340#d29414340 If it is as simple as replacing the part, I can do that. If not, what else might I do to troubleshoot the problem up or downstream?

being in the uk i dont know this appliance, but the fault is probably that it is overfilling caused by crap in the airchamber or the hose leading to the pressure stat blocked or a split in this hose

check water level is ok. check its heating. open door when in operation and check if spray arms are rotating. if not, take them out, run water into centre hole and check water comes out of jets. note the spray arms only rotate with water coming out of angled jets at end

I currently had the same problem with mine and the culprit was the boot that screws on to the spray arm which serves as the seal from the spray arm to the motor.To find out spin the base of the spray arm loose and take off the screw tightened clamp that holds the boot to the motor. Mine had dry rotted and leaked very badly.The part as only about $10. Hope this helps

dishwasher leaking might be due to either of these causes, check these:

Main tub seal
Note… If the main motor of your dishwasher is mounted vertically, beneath the center bottom
of the dishwasher, the following instructions probably apply to you.
But if your motor is mounted horizontally, the pump isn't serviceable--you need to replace the
entire pump and motor assembly.

The main tub seal is beneath the drain impeller. It prevents the water in the dishwasher from
leaking out near the shaft of the motor. To get to the seal, which is inside the dishwasher,
remove the:

* Lower rack
*Spray arm
* Spray arm support
* Wash/drain impellers

Then try the seal out of its housing and replace it.

Door gasket or seal
Over time, door gaskets and seals harden and lose their ability to seal properly.
You can't repair the seals. You need to replace them if they've begun to leak.

Water-inlet valve
The water-inlet valve, itself, seldom leaks. But, the water-supply line from the house and the
rubber tube leading from the valve to the inside of the dishwasher may leak. Tighten
or repair/replace these as necessary.

The water-inlet valve could mechanically stick open. When that happens, the water continues
to flow into the dishwasher, which then floods your kitchen. Turn off the water supply to the
dishwasher, and replace the valve.

Hoses
Behind the lower access panel on your dishwasher are several rubber or plastic hoses. If the
leak appears at a connection, try a new clamp. If that doesn't work, replace the hose.

If your dishwasher is Leaking check the following

Dishwasher Not Leveled

This is a very common reason for a leaking dishwasher especially if this was a new installation. The framing in a dishwasher is made up of mostly thin sheet metal, so if it is not sitting flat and level things can get distorted very easily.

Door Seal

This is not very common in most dishwashers. To check this look for rips and distortion of the seal. If it is ripped or distorted you will need to replace.

Dispenser Seal

This is a more common place for a leak to develop. This is easy to check, remove the front panel and carefully inspect around the seal for water dripping or stainage. If any is found replace the dispensergasket.

Water Inlet Valve

Usually it is the connection to the water inlet valve that ends up leaking. Check this connection ( there is usually some sort of adaptor between the valve and supply hose) for leaks. Check the connection on the back of the water inlet valve also. Ocassionaly a water inlet valve will leak around the solenoid in this case reokace inlet valve

Door Hinges

They can cause problems, but this usually only happens from opening a heavy load of dishes on the door. Occassionaly a broken spring or cable occurs. You will need to remove the toe kick and maybe the front panel to inspect.Use the VOM. God bless you

My Bosch works very well.But when you idol it for several days, there will be a lot of water, if you don't clean up,soon or late got overflowed
Hi,


If the dishwasher is filling to overflow level when not in use, you need to replace the water inlet valve/solenoid assembly. The valve is not closing fully allowing water to seep into the washer.

If you have a check valve for the water supply to the dishwasher, I'd suggest closing the check valve while the washer is not in use until the inlet valve has been replaced. If you don't have a check valve, if you leave the power switched on, the washer will automatically pump out when it reaches overflow level. The anti-flood protection system will stop the dishwasher overflowing as long as the power is on. Closing the check valve is by far the best option!

The inlet valve/solenoid is located behind the toe-kick below the door and is relatively easy to replace yourself. The only tools required are a Torx T20 screwdriver for removing the toe-kick and the valve.

If you are confident that you can undertake this repair yourself and have the tools, I've listed the part/supplier details and fitting instructions below. If you would prefer to call a service technician, make sure you aren't charged more than $30-35 and no more than an hour for labor.

Please note: This part relates to the Bosch SHX45M05UC/xx. If you do not have this model, verify the correct part number for your model before ordering.

Fitting instructions:
1. Switch off the power at the breaker and close the water supply check valve
2. Clear as much water from the sump as possible - a turkey baster works well for this
3. Remove the two Torx T20 screws from the toe-kick then tilt the toe kick out to remove it
4. Remove the base insulation (if fitted)
5. Disconnect the water supply line from the inlet valve
6. Make sure the sump inlet hose is clear of the inlet valve
7. Disconnect the wires from the water valve - make note of where to re-attach first!
8. Remove the two Torx T20 screws from the inlet valve
9. Pull out the inlet valve and disconnect the hose

A small amount of water will drain from the hose when you disconnect it (assuming you drained the sump first) so have something ready to catch the water if possible.

That's it. Refitting is the exact reverse of the above. This is a relatively simple repair, but it's a good idea to take digital photos as you go along so you can refer back to them when re-fitting parts.

Did you have this problem before replacing the solenoid coil or it start after ? In case it started after solenoid coil replacement, its look like you did something wrong while assembling it back. Disconnect Dishwasher power cable and close water tap - remove the selenoide coil, clean the valve from scale or other dirt and check that you placed all parts back properly (spring,gasket...). Good luck !!
