Left Tv sitting for a week after it would not show picture in high hopes that it had been overused. Attempted to start today and would not even power on.
I had same problem this AM. I purchased TV at Target in Jul 2012 so of course it is out of warranty. As I was watching it, I heard a loud noise but nothing had fallen to floor, there was no odor, just no power. The outlet worked fine, no power surge and no weather issues. I called cust serv and they suggested one thing that did not work, then told me it would cost more to repair than I paid for it. I have sets that are 10+ yrs old that have never had a problem. The manual was worthless. This type of throw away product is absurd.I had same problem this AM. I purchased TV at Target in Jul 2012 so of course it is out of warranty. The vertical sweep output section circuit to your TV has the fault. Might be an IC failure, or with some loose solder points at the solder terminals to this IC. As it will be very difficult to detect the exact dry-solder point, it will be best to resolder all the suspected solder terminals to this vertical output section, by applying a little more solder to each terminals, without making any solder bridge short in between adjacent solder terminals.
