Philips GoGear 256Mb problem...

Hi,I charged my philips gogear 256mb last night and also added a couple of new albums...I got in bed, turned it on,locked the keys (Hold button ON) and felt asleep while listening some nice music... This morning when I woke up,the player simply wouldn't turn on! I tried to charge it but the display didn't flicker nor the PC detected the player ! I need some solutions, what's the problem, does it has a bug or something? I have to mention that the player is new, just one week old :-( Thanks ...

As it is only a week old, if you have followed the instructions exactly the device is probably faulty and should be returned to the retailer.

It is worth noting it isn't a good idea to operate such devices continuously in an insulated environment. If you had it in bed with you or kept it under your pillow it is possible it overheated.

SOURCE: GPX MW6815DT trouble

Hi, There are some pre-loaded songs on your device, that can lock down your player making it unable to add more songs. Follow these steps to delete all pre-loaded songs and unlock your player for future music downloads. 1. Connect your MW6825DT to your computer. 2. Open ?My Computer? from your computer?s desktop. 3. You will see ?GPX Player? under Audio Device type. 4. Select and right mouse click on ?GPX Player? and select ?Format??. 5. Click ?OK? on the Format WARNING window. 6. Click ?OK? again on ?Format Complete? window. Now try again to transfer some music. It is recommended to use Windows Media Player to transfer music from your computer to your device. Good day, Daniel

SOURCE: no power

re: Model MW3837 - I don't recall if the battery was charged when I bought these as gifts for my kids, but they charge via the mini-USB port (either from connecting to your computer or aftermarket charger) in about an hour or so. Once I knew the battery had to be fully charged, it would only display 'HOLD' and 'BYE' when I tried to turn it on. Then I realized the 'HOLD' switch was on. After I set that switch to 'off', it powered up and played like it was supposed to.

Hope this helps...

SOURCE: Nextar MA 166 MP3 Won't Charge

You have to install the software for the mp3 player BEFORE connecting the mp3 player to the computer, or else Windows XP will override the native drivers. That particular Nextar is not compatible with Windows Vista, so you may have a problem if you have a newer computer.

SOURCE: problem charging my gpx ml759b

The GPX ML759B has a Lion-Polymer rechargeable battery which does wear out pretty quickly especially when playing MP4 Videos. If your unit is 18months, you have done well!
If you have tried charging charging your player in a couple manners as stated, and you are happy that the charging system is working, then I strongly suspect that you will need to replace the internal LiOn-Polymer battery (whcih usually have a max life of 500 charges).
If you cannot replace the internal battery yourself, you may find that it may not be an economical option for a relatively cheap MP4 player.

I was charging my media player and now it is stuck in charge mode?

Hi,Reset your GoGear with something sharp like the tip of a pen or the end of a paper clip, if you're device isn't working properly or there's a frozen display. Insert the sharp object into the "Reset" hole (located at the bottom of the player), and hold it there until the device turns off. If resetting the device does nothing to restore the display, access the "Philips Device Manager" through your computer to recover the GoGear.

Click "Start" on your computer, then "Programs," "Philips Digital Audio Player," "Aria Device Manager," and then "Philips Device Manager." This will launch the "Philips Device Manager." Make sure the GoGear is turned off completely. Connect your GoGear to your computer while holding down the "Volume Up" button. Continue to hold the "Volume Up" button on your GoGear, until the "Philips Device Manager" recognizes the device and enters recovery mode. Click the "Repair" button when it appears on your computer, then follow the steps to fully recover the GoGear. Properly disconnect your GoGear from your computer and restart the device.

Recharge your device if your GoGear dies suddenly while playing. Connect the GoGear to your computer via the supplied USB cord. Plug one end of the USB cord into a functional, open USB port on your computer. Plug the free, smaller end of the USB cord firmly into the small USB jack on your GoGear and turn your computer on. This will begin the charging process of your GoGear. If recharging doesn't work, the battery may need to be replaced. Check that your GoGear isn't in standby mode. Hold the "Power" button for two seconds to turn it back on.

Good luck.

My mp3 phillips gogear 256MB wont work anymore!!!

You would most likely have to replace it, the software gets old and the battery will die. Most likely the battery is completly shot (maybe even leaking) which has caused it to stop working

My GoGear MP3 from Philips is frozen on Ok To Disconnect.

You will need to grab the updated version of the Philips Device Manager from Philips website and update the firmware to resolve your issue.

How do i get the pictures off my gogear?

Connect the device to the PC.

Open My Computer. The GoGear should show as a drive.

Double-click on GoGear, navigate to the Pictures folder and delete the files manually.

To prevent this happening again, go into the Windows Media Player settings, and select manual sync. This varies with different versions of Media Player.

8GB GoGear isnt working at all

Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).
