Question about Hitachi 43UWX10B 43" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Projection tv so now i removed the screen and cleaned it and the mirror. and removed and cleaned the three lens. now when i look inside the tubes, there is a black half moon shape in all three. Could all the three tubes blow at once or is there a pre-tube problem. Also it hasn't done the negative screen thing since i took off the lens?

I just saw your post, that is a permanat burn on the screen and there is suppose to be protection circuits inside this TV set to prevent this from happening.

You can give panasonic a call or an autherized Panasonic repair depot and see if there are any knon service problem, or replace all three tubes and I am sorry to say that is going to be expensive.

Dim/dark Picture

The model indicated here is rear projection that uses three picture tubes.

If rear cover is removed--can be done by removing entire front screen but there are hazards like damaging the screen---with rear cover removed clean the lens in the three round cyclinders which point up and are hard to miss===

They are the light source for the picture---there is if you look up inside and to the rear a mirror but unless grimy it rarely needs cleaning.

clean the lens with a lens cloth or even a paper towel with glass cleaner sprayed on the towel.

WHY COLOR IS HAZY?

Model indicated is a projection set with three picture tubes.

Cleaning may help your problem--two ways to do this-

with set unplugged remove rear cover and clean the three large black lens you cannot miss--if dusty the picture will be dull and darker--should be done once a year.

Peek up inside to the rear and look at the mirror--unless grimy leave it alone.

Other way is to remove entire screen unit which if you have not done that entails some danger of damage to the screeen.

Try cleaning the lens to see if improvement.

Remove tv screen from hitachi projection tv

The entire screen unit can be removed but first remove rear cover and look at the lens--clean with a lens cloth etc----peek up inside and look at the mirror--if not dirty or smudged just clean the lens.

removing the screen with its frame can be tricky--easy to damage the screens etc. Removal usually requires front speaker grill to be removed first---most just pull off but a few are secured from rear by some screws.

With it off look to see if at bottom of screen there are a row of screws--if the entire front unit can be removed it will pull out at bottom and be snapped in place.

A better suggestion is look at rear of set above back cover--if the upper part is plastic--it with the back removed can also be removed--careful as mirror is bolted into it---that way you can clean the mirror and get at the lens for the tubes without trying to remove screen unit--some of the smaller sets this is the ONLY way to get at the mirror.

Yes a number of screws but if plastic upper rear comes out with mirror much easier and safer way.

Cleaning webs from inside screen

There are two ways to do this---the hard way which is to remove the entire front screen OR

What I do is (with the set unplugged) remove the back cover of the set; you should see the three large black lens.

Most of these sets there will be enough room to get a swiffer duster up inside to gently catch and remove all the spider webs. If there is not enough room let me know and I will tell you how to remove the front screen.

Also---if you can see those large black lens---clean the dust off of them with a lens cloth or paper towel with glass cleaner sprayed on the towel.

If you can reach the webs from the back do not exert pressure when you wipe the inside of the screens---easy to scratch them.

If you have questions let me know BEFORE you attempt this.

If this helped or told you something you did not know rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

I have a Mitsubishi WS-65413 65 in. Rear Projection TV. This has been a great TV with no problems as of yet. My concearn is its getting up there in age and I wanted to purchas a new lamp for the tv. I just...

WS-65413 is a Mitsubishi set first made in 2003. It uses three picture tubes and no lamp or bulb.

About the only problem these sets ever have in them is failure in the convergence circuit--it happens with age.

If the picture looks good about the only service they ever need is to have the lens on the three tubes cleaned about once a year--if the lens are dusty the picture will be somewhat darker and dull---gradual change--It also has a large mirror that depending on if you are in a dusty environment can be cleaned as well.

Usually the mirror because of the way it is mounted does not need cleaning. Two ways to do this:
If you just want to clean the lens turn the set off--UNPLUG IT and remove the back cover--you will see the three large black lens units---clean them with a lens cloth or a paper towel with glass cleaner sprayed on it.

The other way is tricky as you have to remove the entire front screen assembly--most of the time you have to remove the speaker grills, and inspection plate and unplug the front keyboard---four or five screws along the bottom of the screen unit secure it and with them out you lift the entire unit up(good idea to have 2 people do this and not flex it--you can dislodge the screens from the frame if you are not careful) and out.

What I usually do is remove the back cover and stick my head in and look at the mirror from the inside of the set--if it looks clean without grime or dust--let it be and just clean the lens.

If you want to improve the sets picture after you put everything back--go into the customer menu and select convergence--there will be instructions on screen telling you what to do--select advanced convergence and with the device or input button go to a unused video input----look at the grid of lines--if red or blue are off a little you can adjust with the Mitsubishi remote--the better the convergence is adjusted the better the set will look.

Usually if not any circuit problem---cleaning the lens, mirror, and adjusting the convergence is all that needs to be done.

If this information has helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

Rear projection tv picture quality loss

most of these sets have 3 lens for the three picture tubes inside and also a mirror---if it has never had the lens cleaned they could be dusty and this will diminish the brightness and clarity of your picture---if real dirty the picture will look washed out------most of these sets you can remove the back cover(unplug set first) and gain access to the lens ; clean them with a lens cloth or a paper towel with glass cleaner.

I need to clean mirror

Most rear projection sets the screen will pop off the front. Usually a couple of hidden catches. Get another person for this.
Once off you can clean the mirror but not the inside of the screen.

CLEANING THE " LENS" MIGHT BE POSSIBLE IF YOU HAVE A LITTLLE SKILL,,UNPLUG THE TV FROM THE WALL OUTLET ,,,,LET ME REPEAT THAT --UNPLUG THE TV FROM THE ELECTRICITY....TAKE THE BACK OFF THE TV---LOOK UP AND YOU WILL SEE 3 PICTURE TUBES POINTING UP,,,ON TOP OF THE TUBES THERE IS A LENS (GLASS)...YOU CAN SPRAY GLASS CLEANER ON RAG OR PAPER TOWELL AND GENTLY RUB OFF ALL THE DUST AND DIRT--USUALLY REALLY BAD IF SMOKERS-- WHEN U GET THRU ,,PUT THE BACK AND REPLUG IN WALL OUTLET--THERE IS ALSO A MIRROR ON PROJECTION TV'S --I RECOMMEND A TECH FOR THAT SERVICING --IF YOU ARE UNCOMFORTABLE ABOUT DOING THIS ----DON'T

THE FRONT SCREENS USUALLY AND RARELY NEED CLEANING...JUST USE A SOFT CLOTH AND RUB TOP TO BOTTOM ON THE OUTSIDE ONLY-GEENTLY TUNICA

Hitach 52" rear projection tv

The problem you have with the picture is a problem with the video circuit. Most likely a coupling capacitor or the Y/C Video Jungle IC. the half mood on the picture could be a seriuos problem though. You will need to take off the front screen and while the set is on, look down all three picture tubes. Is there what looks like a spot on one of the pictubes surfaces? If there is, that tube is going to have to be replaced. If it looks like something floating around inside the tube, maybe the tube can be disassembled and cleaned.. Also check the mirrors inside the set and on the surface of the three lens, maybe there is a spot on one of those. Good Luck.
