Question about Hitachi 43UWX10B 43" Rear Projection Television

Hitach 52" rear projection tv

After being on for awhile the screen switches to what i would describe as a negative image and has white wavy lines. If i turn the set off and on it goes away for a while but comes back. The screen also has a red half moon dot in the center now. I cleaned the circit boards with air and they seem to be in good condition. The tv has always been well cared for. Any advice?

wow. I just learned alot about my tv!
Ok, so i took off the screen, cleaned it and the mirror. Took off all three lens and cleaned them (and there was debris inside) when i look inside the tubes, there is a black half moon shape inside all three. could three tubes blow at once or could there be a pre-tube problem? also it hasn't done the negative thing since i opened the lens?

The problem you have with the picture is a problem with the video circuit. Most likely a coupling capacitor or the Y/C Video Jungle IC. the half mood on the picture could be a seriuos problem though. You will need to take off the front screen and while the set is on, look down all three picture tubes. Is there what looks like a spot on one of the pictubes surfaces? If there is, that tube is going to have to be replaced. If it looks like something floating around inside the tube, maybe the tube can be disassembled and cleaned.. Also check the mirrors inside the set and on the surface of the three lens, maybe there is a spot on one of those. Good Luck.

That is a burn on the picture tubes my friend,, i would call up Panasonic as this set is suppose to have protection circuits built in to the set to prevent this from happening. Great that you cleaned your set.

Picture show blurred and 3 lines across the screen color of red, blue and green

Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.

The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded over.

Hello,

The problem with the television is the lamp. It is faulty that is why the screen turns wavy in minutes.

The solution to that is to replace the light and your television will be in good condition once again.

Take care

Thin vertical lines

Those lines are called retrace lines. They are there all the time on projection TVs but you should be able to see them. When you do see them, that's an indication that the kine screen settings are too high or the supply voltage to the kine driver circuit is low or missing. There is a small, black control unit located behind the speaker grill assy in the front of the TV that has 2 sets of 3 controls. A red, blue, and green focus and screen controls. See if you can make the lines dissappear by turning the screen controls counterclockwise. If you can't you'll need to have service come out to troubleshoot it.
