Question about Brother IntelliFAX 1270E Plain Paper Fax

Faxes won't go through

Besides restarting the fax, unplugging and replugging all components, what general troubleshooting techniques for outbound faxing can I use? The fax dials out and it sounds like it's beginning to go through, but then the paper isn't being drawn from the tray at all. Thanks!

Used machine. All setup complete. Fax will not send even though the receiving station answers. Will copy OK but paper will not go out in Fax mode. Double checked setup. Fax signal heard till "start" pressed, then a different sound, not normal fax sound.

HP 1040 is sending streaked faxes

Streaking on outbound faxes is due to a dirty optics assembly. In order to correct the issue, you must open the fax (just lift up the front cover) and clean the area that scans the paper as they become dirty with paper dust and dirt.

We are not receiving faxes..we keep getting error code 407..Please help? Thank you.

The message means:

407 No confirmation from the receiving station for the
previous page sent.
Wait a few minutes and send again.

This can mean 2 things

1) you have not set your fax machine to recieve faxes

2) you need to have your fax machine serviced because the part that makes it pickup a fax has malfuctioned

Clean all paper paths with paper path cleaner.
Unplug and then after 10 seconds replug the fax machine and do a test recieve for it

If all else fails, you may need to call a service person to repair or replace the broken or defective part that recieves faxes.

Hope this helps :)
