Acer Travelmate 2420 PROBLEMS :(

HI Help Urgently needed guys I have acer travelmate 2420. Its with windows xp home and sp2. I use mozilla but have installed explorer7 too. I have macafee 8.0 version virus and windows defender. My laptop was working nicely before i switched to wireless internet. It suddenly started hanging when ever i open few websites or watch any clips (especially at ibnlive.com) now it is hanging even when internet is not on. when i open task manager it says in process taskmgr the most percentage taking. also cpu is 100% full. It has become continious now being frustrated some how i managed to do system recover but again the same problem. I still havnt done defragment though. fan is working properly also i am in melbourne so not much of heat. dont know if hardisk has bad sectors though. help needed urgently what do i do as this is hanging now frequently even when i am making a ppt presentation and have disabled internet. But mostly it hangs whn i watch nething on net. HELP

dear i have switched off the automatic updates. I uninstalled the power management of acer. disabled the modem i dont use. disabled the hotkey function nothing starts in my start up except messengers.

problem is when i open task manager the cpu usage says 100% after any multimedia website i have opened... and when i look at process running. my internet explorer shows cpu usage (avg 20%) , firefox shows cpu usage (30 %) and surprisingly even task mangers shows cpu usage (40 t0 50 %) its crazy as non of process are shown running..as i said this started happening after i started using wire less internet. plz help dont know if hard disk has bad sectors. my wireless network is not secured and is based at home.

Base of problem is cpu usage goes 100% when not much of process are running ...can it be virus as i have firewall and antivirus macaffee 8.0 with latest virus definations and also i use windows defender :( help

Try to turn off automatic updates. Right-click on MyComputer icon, select properties, Click on Automatic Updates, turn off automatic updates. Maybe it's trying to download updates automatically and this will slow down the computer. If that is the problem, you have to make sure you get all your updates manually first and then change back settings to automatically download updates afterwards. Please let me know if this still doesn't help.

Try another antispyware program that is very good in protecting your computer.
Download avg antispyware from this website: http://free.grisoft.com
Install it, update it and scan your computer.
Your computer might be infected with spyware that has loaded itself and is running processes, thereby, slowing down the computer.
Windows defender may not be detecting them.

Please update me on your results.
