Question about Proscan PS32500 32" TV
So there's a white static line going across the screen interrupting the picture. There is also a static sound coming from inside the TV. I turned off the TV and could smell something burning inside. Next day tried it again, and still the same. Took off the rear shroud, and traced the burning smell to the printed circut board located on the picture tube itself. Found a light black mark almost dead center. What's happening?? The TV was fixed a year and a half ago due to a power issue. Now this! The last fix cost $400, what am I looking to pay to fix this now? Is there a over-heating issue common with these TV's? I notice my entertainment center doesn't have too many "breathing holes" to help circulate the air around the TV. Thanks.
It sounds like the circuit board is arching over somewhere. It could be as simply as cleaning and digging out the carbon mark to stop the arching. This is most likely the screen or focus voltage causing this, if there are no parts that have broken down. This will damage the printed circuit board and make things worse the more you let this cook. This could be dangerous for you to mess with because of the high voltage present, so my best advise would be to get this into the repair shop as soon as possible before this board burns up. It should not cost all that much if the CRT board can be repaired. Good Luck

I have the same problem. A couple days ago I thought we just needed to take the trash out- I thought we had rotting food. Today I turned on my TV, it had this weird noise and now I smell the same smell. It's a fairy new TV, Memorex, but how much will it cost to fix?
