Question about LG 50PX4DR 50 in. Plasma TV

1 Answer

Verticle Bars down each side of screen

Hi If you could help me I'd appreciate it. I've an LG 50" Plasma. When in 4:3, 14:9 or Auto mode the verticle filler bars on each side of the screen are grey. I would like them to be black like my 23" LG TV but have no idea how to change the setting. I've been over the manual and still can't seem to find the command. With thanks, Cameron

It would be in video settings mode if avail. Being a plasma it might not be available, this feature is to prevent burn in.

What is causing PZ550 Plasma TV to display a frozen image with bars, and then a black screen after restarting the TV? Sounds and TV functions work.

Fault to its main board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ . In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

I have a 50" Plasma

Hi, the aspect ratio is set incorrectly for the source material or the screen is simply set to 4:3 aspect (old TV size) manually. There will be a menu function or an aspect button on the remote for doing this. Set it to auto which is usually good enough for most viewing though the ratio may change during adverts and back again for the film on tv watching. This can be annoying so when on tv mode observe the ratio set when the film is on and manually set this ratio, usually 16:9. The display will normally tell you the ratio setting at the point of change so you can do this. I hope this helps.

Very light colored verticle (1" wide) ribbon on LG 42" Plasma TV

The TV is design for 16:9 format. The bars appear when the TV off showing that the TV has been watching under channels which is have 4:3 format for long time. The screen was burn out because no sweepping to those area. This is not critical problem but you can do nothing to fix it. To eliminate it a bit you shoud read the manual, I believe it has mentioned how to roll or sweep the screen. For plasma TV, if you keep watching 4:3 channels fomat, you shoud do it one a month within 30'. Good luck

I have a 42' LG plasma that has now has a 1 1/2 inch verticle stripe on the right side. It used to come and go but now rarely goes away. Any ideas?

I believe that this could be a type of "burn in". If you watch anything with a black stripe on the sides or bottom of the screen often, then this could be the problem. My suggestion is to watch things that have no black side bars for a while (>week) and see if this eliminates the problem.
Good Luck!!

Verticle black bars

Check the connections on the flat cables to the screen. Be sure first to disconnect the power supply from the x and y sustain boards before you disconnect any of the flat cables.you will burn the cables from the stored energy in the power supply, also check cables on c boards at bottom of screen. If this does not fix probably bad panel.

Colored verticle bars, some w/colored snow, picture is still on

It sounds to me like you have a bad plasma panel. Unfortunately you may now be in the market for a new TV if you are not under a warranty of some kind. That issue is unfortunately unrepairable because it requires you to replace the entire panel and therefore is not cost effective.

LG 42PX10 Plasma

I just fixed my plasma with same looking problem. Mine is a 42PX11. Cost me $320.00 in parts from Fishwick Electonics. Replaced three circuit boards, crossed my fingers and turned it on and am happy to report it has been working fine since for about 6 months now.
