Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+

Keypad garage door opener will not operate

Have had a craftsman keypad on craftsman garage door for several years. The keypad stopped working - replaced the battery, still didn't work. Tried to reset the master code on opener and then remote openers wouldn't work. Replaced the keypad, and still didn't work. Replaced the garage door opener itself. The remotes work, but we cannot get the keypad to communicate with the opener and cannot get the opener to "learn" the new code. Any suggestions?

    The keypad will close the garage door but will not open it.

    Neither remote works nor the keypad. We replaced the battery on one remote and it still did not open the door. Clicking the remote while in the garage makes a light flash on the central system so I know they are trying to communicate with each other. The wall mount door opener inside the garage is the only way to get the door open and closed.

    Actually, the problem was not in coding the openers. The board on the first opener went bad, which is why it couldn't be coded. We replaced the entire garage door opener, and the new keypad, bought for the old opener (both Craftsman openers) was not compatible with the new opener. We exchanged the keypad for a compatible one, and now it all works. Thanks.

What keypad are you using with new opener? Frequency has changed. can't use old one. you probably never needed to change things; just needed to follow proper coding procedures.

We have a craftsman 13953930D garage door opener with a craftsman keypad entry. I followed the directions for reprogramming the keypad, and it still doesn't work. I've replaced the battery and tried...
First thing you need to do is make sure it is the correct keypad. If it is an older model it will not work with your opener. They correct keypad for your opener is 139.53754.

My wireless remote keypad stopped working. I changed the battery and it worked to get the garage door down but not up. The key pad is about 7 years old.
It sounds like your keypad is going bad and has a weak signal. It can operate the opener with the door open but with the door between it and the receiver it can't.

Have you tired reprogramming the remotes to the opener?

The opener receiver board may have failed, which happens. You can order a new one from Sears or other places on the Internet, and they are fairly easy to replace.

Once replaced, you will need to program the receiver to you remotes again.

Craftsman garage opener will not work with keypad
If it worked before and just quit it is a bad keypad. If there are other circumstances let me know.

I think you are saying that normal incandescent bulbs do not work. If that is correct you should unplug the unit and using a small screwdriver reach into the socket and pull out slightly on the center contact.

Craftsman garage door remotes and keypad won't hold the code.
DID YOU BUY THE KEYPAD AND REMOTES WITH THE OPENER. IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU MAY HAVE THE WRONG ONES FOR YOUR OPENER.

CHECK THE FREQ. AND IS IT ROLLING CODE.
