Question about Pioneer AVIC-D2 DVD Nav/6.5" Screen/AM/FM/CD Player Car Video Player

4 Answers

Pioneer AVIC-D2 I'm having problem with my Pioneer HU. I just brought a new truck and it was already installed. Some of the buttons on the screens seems to be grayed out. Example ( I can't set the time.) That button is grayed as well as several of the Destination buttons. I have try to reset the HU by pressing the reset on the front. That is when I found out that I can not reset the time. Another problem is the XM radio. The XM works great, but when I tried to check the signal it says no signal and not connected. I just replaced the XM radio with the correct Pioneer one. Any help would be grateful.

I am having the exact same issue as EagleRising. I just bought a 2007 Expedition with the AVIC-D2 installed and it's not the easiest, most intuitive user interface I've ever seen. I can't change most of the settings as they're greyed out and I can't even find the nav-dvd slot to try to start over (by the way, the dvds didn't come with...where can I find them?)

    Any help is appreciated...

OK, I spoke to Pioneer tech support and they had me go to destination>settings>connection status. If the parking brake shows "off", many of the functions will not work as a safety measure. I guess this is their version of interlock. I think it can be defeated with a wire-around, but thats what they say the problem is.

Make sure your E-brake is up. It only has to be up far enough for your car to register that it is up, and then the HU should let you press these buttons. Sometimes while I'm driving, if I need to change something, I'll have the passenger pull it up just enough for my dash to say "BRAKE" and then I can change things. Hope this helps :)

Try going in the screen resolution display. you can do it when the unit is in dvd lay mode or aux mode. once in you can adjust the contrast, color, brightness, sharpness ect..

To get access to the map dvd you need to push and hold down the eject button, as the screen lowers, you will see the map dvd slot.

I'd check for a physically stuck button - or disconnect the 12 volt power from the radio completely for several minutes. Reconnect and try again.

Touchscreen is inoperable on the right side

Right there with you, I have a avic d2 as well. my screen is not working at all. I work on stereos, and can not fix it myself, because Pioneer will not sell the ribbon cable needed to fix it. You must ship the unit to them, and pay $180 for a five minute repair. I used to buy only Pioneer, I have moved on to alpine. Pioneer has gone way, way down hill as soon as they stopped making there product in Japan.
