For no apparent reason, my camera will not take a picture sometimes. The camera window displays a flashing error message "F--", which I cannot find in the manual. It then flashes some info like "R9". Perhaps a few minutes later, the camera will start taking pictures again. This is very annoying. Help?
I have the same problem with my D50. I believe it is caused by poor electrical contact between camera and lens. The contacts may be dirty but I have tried cleaning them and I still get the same error. Moving the lens often solves the problem. This led me to suspect that it is due to slight wear of the plastic mounting bayonet on the lens. This allows the lens to fall slightly and disengage from the contact pins. My 70-300mm lens has no problems since it only uses a few pins.

My camera will not take a picture. It is flashing (r27). I do not have a manual. Does anyone know what the problem is?
I will be taking pics and then my D50 won't take a pic and, with the shutter button fully depressed, it reads "r27". It usually happens when I'm not at the widest angle of my zoom lens. If I back it off to the widest angle, it usually will take a pic, but I want to be able to zoom. I can't find the "r27" code (displayed in the lower right corner of the view finder) in the Manual ANYWHERE! Weddings of Your Dreams turn into Weddings of My Nightmares!
