The flickering you describe is most certainly a bad capacitor in the power supply. find a hobbiest or TV tech to do this for you. These TVs require lots of patience to remove the back cover and removing the power supplies. Good luck and thanks for asking.
Mine started out like that, now flickers about an hour before it comes on. I don't turn it off anymore, it'll burn out one of these days and I'll get a better TV.
