The stack stopper on my HP L7680 All-in-One printer came off. How does it go back on?

The stack stopper on the ADF of my HP L7680 All-in-One printer came off. I cannot find a picture online that is clear enough on how the stack stopper fits in the ADF. Where, exactly, does it attach to the ADF?

There is a flimsy cover that poorly snaps in above roller ADF assembly of the HP L7680 when it is in its normal operating position. This cover is the one that covers the blue release button. The stack stopper hangs from this small black plastic cover via the two round pegs on end of this cover and floats up and down between the two rollers. Really amazingly flimsy design. Oddly enough when assembled correctly it works.

SOURCE: HP L7680 black print streeks every 5-6 lines

Any inkjet printer with this problem is caused by a build-up of ink on the undercarriage or the wiper assmbly.Usually on the right side where the cartridges are at rest. You have to get messy and clean that build-up with moistened cloth, qtips etc.

HP Officejet Pro LP 7880 feeder does not work, how to fix it?

Step one: Check the paper in the ADF The condition of the paper or the amount of paper loaded in the ADF might prevent the ADF from picking it up and feeding it through the product.
  1. Make sure that no more than 50 sheets of paper are in the ADF input tray.
  2. Make sure the original is not photo paper or carbon paper. These types of originals must be loaded on the scanner glass.
  3. Make sure the original document that is loaded in the ADF meets the following criteria:
    • Free from curls, folds, creases, and tears
    • Does not have staples or clips attached
Step two: Make sure the ADF pick assembly is in good working condition
  1. Remove the document feeder and open the ADF cover.
  2. While lifting the blue-green lever, carefully rotate the pick assembly toward the open ADF cover until it stops.
  3. Examine the pick assembly.
    • Make sure the bottom roller is held firmly in place by the two-catch, which is located to the left and the right of the roller.
    • Make sure the stack stopper, which is located between the top and bottom rollers, fits within the double slots just above the bottom roller. The stack stopper should move freely within the double slots to flow up and down when the whole pick assembly is lifted and lowered into position.
  4. Return the pick assembly to its original position.
  5. When the product is turned on, the top roller will reset to its original position above the separator pad. There will be a gap between the separator pad and the top roller.
  6. If there is no gap between the ADF top roller and the separator pad, press the Power button to turn off the product.
  7. Wait three to five seconds and then press the Power button to turn the product on. The ADF rollers should reset to the correct positions.
  8. Close the ADF cover and replace the document feeder.
Step three: Clean the rollers and separator pad
  1. Remove the document feeder and open the ADF cover.
  2. While lifting the blue-green lever, carefully rotate the pick assembly toward the open ADF cover until it stops.
  3. Lightly dampen a clean, lint-free cloth with distilled water, and then squeeze any excess liquid from it.
  4. Use the damp cloth to wipe any residue off the rollers and the separator pad. If the residue does not come off using distilled water, use isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol on the cloth instead.
  5. Return the pick assembly to its original position.
  6. Close the ADF cover and replace the document feeder.
Step four: Detaching and re-attaching the ADF pick roller assembly If the ADF pick assembly is detached or not connected properly, follow the steps below to resolve the issue. If the ADF pick assembly works well, do not perform these steps.
  1. Press the Power button to turn off the All-in-One.
  2. Remove the document feeder and open the ADF cover.
  3. Press the blue-green ADF-release button to release the ADF rollers from the pick assembly as shown in the figure below (the red arrow is pointing to the ADF release button).
  4. Re-attach the ADF pick rollers by placing the rollers into the roller slot of the ADF pick assembly as shown in the figure below. The red arrows show the gears on the ADF pick assembly aligned on one side. The yellow arrows point to the two-catch notch.
  5. Once the rollers are placed on the two-catch notch, push them in, so that the two-catch clicks into place. The photo below shows a correctly installed ADF pick assembly.
  6. Close the ADF assembly and cover.
  7. Turn the product on and make a copy with the ADF to check that the pick assembly works.

Fax machine is not grabbing papers to be fxed

If the ADF (auto document feeder) is not picking up paper, you could try the following HP support doc: (copy and paste the link into the location bar of your browser)

Paper feed grabs more than one sheet

Try fanning your paper several times. Take that nice neat pile of paper in your hands and wiggle it so that your thumb fans through the edge of the whole stack. Do this on both edges so that the stack of paper is slightly less perfect. You can also gently fold the whole stack slightly in both directions. Do this every time you add fresh paper. It should only take a few seconds.

Can I scan multiple pages by using the document handler on the HP L7680 Inkjet All-in-One Printer?

Hi,

Yes, you can do this by knocking together the sheets you want to scan into a small, lined-up stack and then put them face up, in the ADF loader.

Bear in mind it can only handle so many sheets at a time (think it's 15?) so don't stuff it with too much or it'll choke.

Remember also that it needs nice straight edges, not dog-eared bits of scrap paper otherwise it'll mis-feed or crumple your source documents.

Oh and you'll need to make sure the software you're using can actually make use of the ADF... The HP provided software can, but it may take a little bit of experimentation to figure out the best, most-appropriate settings.

Hope that helps..

How do I scan a bunch of originals from the tray and get 1 file for each page?

Loading originals to scan
Use these instructions to load originals into your device for scanning. For the best quality
scans, use the flatbed scanner. See Selecting media for the automatic document feeder
(ADF) for guidelines on choosing original documents for scanning.
Loading originals onto the flatbed scanner
1. Make sure that the automatic document feeder (ADF) input tray is free of media.
2. Lift the flatbed scanner lid.
3. Place the original document face-down on the flatbed scanner with the top, left corner of
the document at the lower-right corner of the glass.
4. Gently close the lid.
5. The document is ready to be scanned.
CAUTION To prevent damaging the device, do not allow the scanner lid to fall onto the flatbed scanner
surface. Always close the scanner lid when the device is not in use.
Loading originals into the automatic document feeder (ADF)
input tray
Note The ADF capacity is up to 50 sheets of 75 g/m2 (20 lb) media (depending on the thickness of
the media), or fewer sheets if the stack fills the ADF.
The minimum size for media in the ADF is 127 by 127 mm (5 by 5 inches). For smaller sizes
use the flatbed scanner. The maximum size for media in the ADF is 215.9 by 381 mm (8.5 by
15 inches).
1. Make sure that the flatbed scanner contains no media.
2. Close the flatbed scanner cover and put the top end of the stack of originals into the ADF
input tray, with the media stack face-up and the first page to be scanned on top of the
stack.
3. Slide the stack into the ADF input tray until it does not move any farther.
