OK, here is what you need to do, you need to get a USB - DVD dongle, either SATA or IDE. Similar to this at this link. http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-2-0-TO-SATA-IDE-ADAPTER-CABLE-4-DVD-CD-HARD-DRIVE_W0QQitemZ220544495390QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_2?hash=item335979ef1e#ht_4098wt_1152 Get your recovery DVD, put it into the DVD. Then, set the eeepc to "BOOT" from removeable media. The PC should then boot of the DVD and you can then install OR repair the install. I have included a link that gives you a step by step. http://www.sampletheweb.com/2008/01/05/installing-windows-xp-on-the-asus-eee-pc/

SOURCE: how do I restore to the factory settings. f9 is

the only way i know to do that is to format the hard drive. formatting the hard drive erases everything from the computer and reinstalls the operating system. to do this you need the disk for the operating system. put the disk into the cd/dvd ROM and then restart your computer. when the computer is starting up there will be commands that you can press at the bottom of the screen. press the button for booting from disk. this will take you through a bunch of things ask you if you want to do this. say yes to all of these and it will format your hard drive.

I hope this information was helpful, if you have any questions or comments please reply to this post and i will try to help out as much as possible

My asus eee pc will not start windows. I've tried pressing F2 (and the bios screen comes up) F7, F8 and F9 ask me if I want to run system recovery, but when I say yes, it acts like it's about to...

Restart your computer..start tapping F8 quickly..if you reaches advance boot menu..there select repair my computer..then select the language..then enter your username and password if you use any..in recovery options you can try startup repair or system restore options..lastly if nothing works then select the factory image restore which will take your computer to factory settings but delete everything

How can i restore my asus laptop to factory settings. i have 3 recovery geek squad disk.

Just on phone with ASUS rep. We're getting error on boot on a new unit. Told me to remove battery and power line and hold down power button for 30 seconds then plug in power (not batt) and press power then immediately press F9 again and again until a recovery screen that would reinstall from partition on hard drive appeared. Sadly, F9 didn't work for me and its off to service dept with a brand new unit that worked for 2 hours. Not so sure about ASUS. Have Compaq, HP & Toshibas with only one problem Toshiba within first year of purchase.

My Asus Laptop M2400N Will not boot up

If it boots in safe mode it means there's something the the startup causing problems. To find it, start in safe mode - run MSCONFIG from the run command - Select the Startup Tab - click diable all - reboot. If its till doesn't startup do the same with the services tab. from here its a process of elimination. Tick boxes on and reboot. You should then identify what's causing the problem - also check the event viewer in safe mode as that may also provide a clue.
